also, going to post up some with the original art work and some tweaks and such. rock on!!!

Ok. Front and Spine are perfect but I'm not exactly sure what you are wanting to accomplish with the back. No wording, no description of special features? Just imaging? The back is what is keeping this from being a stellar original cover.

Gotta love it and I wish there was a like button too. I actually met that actress back in 06 at SDCC. She was still beautiful, but a bit full of herself as an actress. Which was a shame because we had met Sam the year before and he made such a great impression on us. I'm kind of hoping if I meet them again that she's in a bit of a better mood. Since I know everyone has a off day when it comes to autographs. OK, back on topic. Whomever did those Indy covers, I might be talking to you about them once the BD's are released. Lovely work as always.

If people think its worth the effort I'll tidy this up and do a different back for all the customs.
I always love covers with more imagery on the back. Sometimes, I have not seen a movie in years and pick up the box look at the back and those images bring back cool memories and it just makes me want to pop in the disc.

So yes, I for one love imagery on the back and love what you did with this one as an example.

I always thought that Flash made the correct choice in picking Melody Anderson's Dale over Ornella Muti's Princess Aura, even though most people seem to pick Muti. It's a shame that Anderson's career never really took off after "Flash Gordon", the only other movies I remember her being in was "Firewalker" with Chuck Norris and Louis Gossett Jr., and a TV Movie based on a true story with her playing a policewoman who posed nude as a centerfold model.

Most people build them using either the credits fonts Universal acc or Steel Tongs.

Thanks, I am quietly working on the backs to post alongside the custom 007 covers on customaniacs but I will not be posting them on here following the complaints of some members.

Default Cobra VHS custom cover

Hi guys.

Look what I came across today; my handmade custom VHS cover for Cobra.

Gather 'round, children, and let grandpa Nissen tell you about the days before DTP and Photoshop. This was literally cut and paste.

The year was 1986 (I was 14), and I had just gotten hold of a camcorded bootleg of Stallone's most recent masterpiece. Naturally I wanted to make a faux cover for it.

I made this from adverts and articles cut out of magazines. I didn't have any black paper so I used a marker for the background. I cut out a frame in the paper so the Cobra poster would have a nice border. Lots of logos in the Warner catalogs of the day also came in handy. Even then I thought the BBFC certificate gave it an air of authenticity :-)

The tagline on the front and the text on the back were added with my trusty Canon electric typewriter. It wasn't supposed to come out so crooked, but the paper slipped, I remember. I had glued the images on before cramming the thing into the typewriter. Bad idea. I think I actually wrote that synopsis myself, bad punctuation and all. (Hey, English is my second language.)

God knows where I got the Warner "hologram" sticker, but probably from a rental tape. I think I got the actual Warner case by switching out a generic case I had with a rental tape also. I had (have) no shame.

Anyway, I think this was the last custom cover I did until I started doing the Blu-ray covers last year. A gap of 25 years. Wonder what I would have done if I had Photoshop back then? I would probably have made a lot more customs, to be sure.

Here's the insert.

Thanks Grandpa. That was really touching.

Is it wrong to be amused that the cover was Cobra. I don't know Fritz, you and your 80s action "thing"

Great idea!

- You should add a paper clip (different for every cover, placed randomly)
- The pictures could be like Polaroid or pictures on angle, with shadow, as it were actual photo from the folder put on the Mission Paper.
- Maybe (maybe...) add a small MI6-00 logo (link) on top of the paper, to make it look official.

That's it! That concept is very good!

I had done a cover a few years ago with it, but the back was terrible, so I wanted to update it.

I also wanted to use David Occhino's Aeronaut font, which I ponied up for (that's the third of his fonts I've bought now--they're awesome!), and I may use it again for a Rocketeer cover if I can be sufficiently inspired (Nissen's cover is already pretty much perfect, so I probably won't ever bother doing my own).

For the back I pretty much just mimicked the stars/oval design of the front; instead of clouds I put in the hawkmen. The central frame is based largely on the frame of a teaser poster which Drrnharr uploaded, so thanks to him for that.

I was really happy with the way the pictures turned out on either side, symmetry-wise, and originally had the planet and lightning bolts across the back there, but decided that symmetry was more important to the deco design of the back, so I used the bolts elsewhere and removed them from the planet symbol.

As with all my covers, it's available (free!) over at Euphoricfx.org.

Now I've got to get to work on a commission!
Flawless!

Edit: ...and Impeccable!

Default Jurassic Park Trilogy Blu-ray Custom Cover, Mondo poster edition

Took the afternoon to finish one of my many WIPs clogging up my WIP folder.

Jurassic Park Trilogy
featuring J.C. Richard's poster for Mondo.

Sources for the poster are somewhat limited, but I managed to upscale it with few artifacts. I've mentioned it before, but artwork is very forgiving when upscaled.

I'm most proud of finding screenshots for the back that matched the colour scheme of the poster. I sweat the details!

This was begun as a commission where the client didn't follow through. That certain gentleman may not PM me about this, but everyone else feel free.

I thought I recognized it - glad I could help

Very well done job. That particular movie has so much fantastic artwork that the hardest part is picking just one. My choice was dictated by the cover to the UK novelization which for many years meant "Flash Gordon" to me.

Fantastic suggestions. I originally put a H.M. Government logo at the top but it looked out of place and a little crowded at the top for some reason. Here is where I am right now, I'm not sure if it shows up but the MI6 logo is behind the TT, with a severe opacity level:

Building on Morsoth's ideas, I'd like to see you do a manilla For Your Eyes Only (for each film not just FYEO) folder, Top Secret folder as the entire cover (maybe at a slight angle with a wooden desk grain-type thing underneath). The cover could be open with Polaroid pictures (some mugshots of the villians et cetra) on the back cover with typed notes (with hand written stuff in margins). The front cover could have a folded poster paper clipped inside.

The look would be as if someone had dropped the folder onto their desk. Or you could take the film-style folder as inspiration for the front (with the poster paper clipped in the corner) and use the open folder idea for the back cover only. Brilliant work though DrrnHrr.

Yes, I used a Typewriter font for the synoposis and special features. I thought about trying to use that font for the credits but it just didn't look right.

Maybe the folder should be stamped "For Your Eyes Only" or would that just be too confusing?

I think it would be confusing given the fact that there is a movie with that name.
