To the best of my knowledge, slipcovers aren't limited to first pressings. Unless someone corrects me any subsequent pressings should have them.

Subsequent pressings come with slipcovers. In fact, they've been updating the slipcovers on some of their older releases, which now sport rounded corners like their 2021+ releases.

Never thought this would get a US release, let alone a Blu-ray.

Also the 2nd film in the Terrifying Girls’ series is the only film in the database, so the Blu-ray is linked to that.

I would add the 3 other films in the series to the site if I knew how to.

I've been intending to do a big order of US blu rays to import on amazon (where with prime you get free shipping, willing to risk their shitty packaging) but likely won't be able to do it for a couple of months so might just order GB on its own if there is any risk of it going OOP soon after release.
I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to print more unless they only got the license for a very small window. If they sell out of their inventory it would just be a matter of waiting for their next print run. Discotek wants/needs to hit a grand slam from time to time, so they won't get rid of a cash cow if they can help it.

I have no real experience with Japanese live-action, but I've been buying all the discotek stuff, and just recently bought hundreds of dollars of Arrow sets so I can get a nice range of genres (karate, action, horror, exploitation, comedy, drama).
I don't know just how much crossover appeal there is between discotek's live offerings and animated ones, but I know it's greater than zero and I'm glad they're doing it. For those who don't really have any interest, I suggest giving at least one of them a try.

I like that attitude. If you don't try something new you'll never know what you may really enjoy. Hope you find the live action films entertaining and worthwhile.

Yeah, their live action output has been fantastic so far. The fact that Suicide Club got a beautiful looking remaster is a miracle on itself.

If someone is on the fence I would highly suggest starting out with Shogun's Samurai which gives you a good feel for 70's Japanese cinema. It's honestly one of the best.

It's pretty cool that Discotek has a deal with both Toei and Kadokawa as there is simply way too many titles from both companies. I mentioned this on the Japanese live action thread, but would love to see someone get Yakuza Ladies from Toei and GI Samurai from Kadokawa. I'm honestly shocked no one has picked up GI Samurai yet as it's a pretty popular film and has a really good 4K scan.

I'm surprised that Urusei #1 is #1 so long after release. That's pretty cool. It sounds like Discotek's gamble on bigger licenses is paying off.

Hopefully this is a good sign that it was worth the time and investment.

The other reason why JP Sonic X was held up for so long was because Sega of America had a block on it due to worries of some elements "not being family friendly" for marketing purposes. When management changed in recent times they saw the huge demand from fanbases and allowed TMS to put the subbed episodes on Hulu.

Not true, the Japanese version had been streaming online since 2010 back when 4Kids were uploading closed caption subtitled versions of what they had left. Some might remember this deal because of what happened months earlier with Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and Johnnys' interference causing it to get pulled.

Also those episodes you see on Hulu was uploaded by 4Kids around the same time and never went away even after the license transferred to Saban Brands then back to TMS when it expired.

For live action, I haven't much branched out from the monsters and superhero territory.

I truly wish Discotek Media would properly restore and release a Blu-ray of Super Atragon (1995) sometime soon...

I'm sure it's highly unlikely due to some rights issues though.
Not to mention that it's probably just not very popular as well.

However, I still think it would be an interesting "companion piece" to own along with a Blu-ray of Atragon (1963)... whenever that film receives a stateside release too.

Oh! When I was collecting Japanese B2 Posters last year, I saw that exact poster available for the Super Atragon anime, and at the time I thought "Woah, that looks like something I would really enjoy!" So I will second that one getting a Blu-ray release...

It's based on the same novels as the Toho toku film, though they're not directly connected (and no Manda in the anime). I'd like to see it as well.
