Just tipped over 2000 this week. It took a while to get there. I'm not buying as many as I use to.

I will spend part of next weekend reorganizing my collection into a custom built shelf I made. The shelf runs from the first to the second floor of my house...should be 8ft wide and 12 ft high. Took me forever to build but it is kinda awesome

I simply count my blu-rays by title; a complete tv series and a single film both count as 1 each. My Zavvi steelbook of The Jungle Book (3D/2D) makes my 3000th title as I count them. There are 6 more coming this week, too.

The database here counts them as indicated under my avatar. My DVD count is actually about 10% higher; many of them are not in the database.

I am likely at a point where I have more than I can ever watch, but I still enjoy having a large assortment on hand. There will be no streaming for me; I want consistent viewing quality.

Just curious how do you guys store everything? I'm probably in the club but haven't inventoried my collection in a few years. Last time my entire collection (DVDs and BDS) totaled around 4000 different movies. (Some could be boxed sets, double features etc.) But I have a lot.

Any suggestions on relatively inexpensive shelving units. I have 6 decent to great shelves, And everything is just doubled up on basic 5 shelf bookcases, those items are very hard to get to anything in the back rows and it is just a pain.

Also has anyone ever thought of sorting movies by year? I thought by doing this perhaps they would be more manageable as I wouldn't add very many at a time to a specific year. Say 1975, only the occasional catalog title might need to placed there. As I have them now they are all alphabetized and you have to move several shelves worth at times to make room for all the new releases I pick up on a weekly basis. Really considering doing this.
