Makes sense lol. Just saying, it would be nice if people could be more self aware and I didn’t have to wade through endless posts of crusty boomers fist waving about YouTube reviewers in almost every 4K thread. Gets old. |

![]() I love the reactions by such people. When in a Chip and Dale forum people were raving over the "HD" versions of the Rescue Rangers series in the 80s-90s that are now on Disney+ (cropping not withstanding but before when they were on various digital platforms in 4:3 before D+ existed) they pretended to know what they were talking about but when I told them I had studied film restoration and film to video transfers for a good 8 years at that point and proved it was the same DVD era transfer of the show from the original BetaSP finished episode now slathered in DNR I was ignored by some, told by others that "well I don't know this tech stuff and it looks good to me and I am better than you because you're elitist for knowing the tech stuff that I pretended to know that you just disproved" I gave up. It's like a badge of honor these days to have no knowledge in a subject and someone who does is at best an equal and at worst somehow less qualified than the unqualified person. I'm a mechanical engineer and am not a stupid wolf but I wouldn't dare to insult my mechanic or head chef at a restaurant by claiming my limited knowledge is somehow superior to their lifetime of dedication to their craft. It doesn't mean that I can't have my own opinion but at the very least such people are owed a degree of deference and respect and if their opinion conflicts with mine, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt until I can learn more. How very elitest of me to give that to them. Last edited by singhcr; 10-10-2021 at 12:25 AM. |

Imagine if Universal had sent review copies to people who actually know how to review, instead of allocating them to people who can't.
What a s*it show. But hey if we are getting into a situation where they all are being gobbled up by the feckless. They and others might do a proper review of who's getting their products. And cut them off if they aren't up to snuff. |
