I'm just surprised they went to the trouble of switching over to slips rather than just selling the cases without any cover. That's what they do when regular slips go OOP.

They kinda had to, unless they redesigned the sleeves…. There is no UPC on the sleeve for these films.

Building the 4K Halloween series set but I think if I can guarantee slips I might just buy 1-3 a second time, only so I can place them with the rest of the Carpenter filmography rather than split up the series which I keep together. 1 directed, 2 some direction, 3 soundtrack


There is no new release date so how would one source these? So 1 is at brick and mortar but 2 and 3 (or 4/5 for those who may want them)?

It's funny (and by funny I mean sad) that Halloween has been released 400 times on disc and still no one has gotten it quite right.

Sad indeed, for such a classic. I think that's why many of us (absolutely me included) have set a lower bar as to what's "good enough" -- and this SF 4K is, for me -- 'cuz chasing perfection is the way to madness. That's not to say I wouldn't buy a superior release... but I'm not gonna sweat it, when I don't think it's ever going to come, and when I can watch this particular release and find my acceptable level of Halloween happiness.

NOTE: this is NOT a post complaining about the complainers; I get it and I'm right there with you. But I'm basically just saying: yeah, it's kinda tragic but whattayagonnado?

This movie's home video history is like a bus: I can wait for the next one

Fingers crossed someone in Europe licenses it and uses Shout's new transfer but with a properly competent encode and the LD mono audio.

I know, I'm relieved as well.

I'm not super big about packaging, but I do really love those hard cases. And I'm thrilled that the rest of the series is having the same ones when they come out next month (I'll probably just toss the big outer case).

In fact, I like them so much - I totally was hoping that Scream was going to start doing them on the regular. Again, not a huge packaging person, but I liked them enough that I would be more likely to buy more Scream titles if they did. They just feel so high quality, and make the higher price point of their releases easier to swallow.
