The kid in me wants to see it since I have been wanting to see the live-action Sequel Trilogy ever since I read about it in Starlog in the 1980's. Also told myself to fulfill the childhood promise to myself to watch the Sequel Trilogy in cinemas no matter what my level of interest in the series were at the time.
I sold over 50 issues of Star Wars Insider too. Don't know much about the plot except what I've seen in the teaser, will watch the eventual full trailer and not researching anymore about Episode VII.

Reagrds to LucasFilm Ltd. on Blu-ray disc, I'd much rather buy TUCKER: The Man and His Dream over the OUT any day,

[Show spoiler]that's my stance on the series at the moment. Not vehement but more I'd rather collect other movies on Blu-ray.

But it's still nice to have the Sequel Trilogy for Star Wars finally being made after first hearing/reading about it decades ago.

I'm with you for that.

Helotes is a bright spot in this town. I've had some good times and good food up there.

I'm not crazy about the Palladium IMAX...not only is it not a "true" IMAX, but never trust a theater that skimps on air conditioning. Also, the audio in their VIP theaters is crazy low...the music in the bathrooms is louder than the audio in the VIP theaters. I like the chairs, though.

MiceAge reported that ToonTown at Disneyland is going to be bulldozed to make room for a SW area. Here's the kick in the balls...won't happen until after next year's 60th anniversary of the park. So you're going to be waiting a while for new Star Wars attractions at the parks.

I saw The Desolation of Smaug on my one visit there in San Antonio last year with my wife and two daughters, and I must say I enjoyed that mall and that theater!

To this. Lucas got to do, like it or not, what very precious few filmmakers ever get to do. He got to make his movies the way he wanted them without a studio breathing down his neck and ordering him to change things up to fit a certain demographic. Lucas is probably the most successful independent filmmaker in history. Considering that all of his Star Wars films, save for the first, were financed by him solely. The man founded ILM for crying out loud. Just think about that. Industrial Light & Magic was founded in an abandoned warehouse in Van Ives California and staffed with a bunch of young upstarts who mostly got their starts in commercials and other such things. And now ILM has become hands down the single largest VFX provider in the world. Only very recently have other companies come close to them. Look at the effects artists that got their big break under Lucas' watch. Dennis Muren. Joe Johnston (now a successful director himself). John Dykstra. Ken Ralston (who went on to do a fair few of Robert Zemeckis' films). Richard Edlund (Ghostbusters). Phil Tippet. I don't know of any movies today that don't have some contributions from the companies Lucas created. Skywalker Sound. THX. Heck, remember when THX used to be the biggest deal on DVDs?

He intended the film as a throwback to Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon anyway. So why would he then lament that it came out as a family friendly (for the most part) space opera? Oh well.

I don't think they could do the 60th with that much of the park under construction (all of Toon Town, the Fantasy Theatre and Thunder Ranch are supposedly being gutted for Star Wars).

I just hope they make room for Roger Rabbit in the Hollywood section of California Adventure. It's a great ride that the entire family can enjoy and it would fit perfectly in that part of DCA thematically.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the poor state of Walt Disney Productions in the 70's. As in, "I made something that's as bad as Island at the Top of the World, Million Dollar Duck, etc."

Oh. Star Wars was nowhere as bad as that. Of course he could be referring to the first cut of the entire movie, which he did say in the Empire of Dreams documentary was awful. That's why he fired his original editor and brought in Paul Hirsch, Richard Chew, and his wife at the time Marcia Griffin.

At the glacial pace Disney moves building new areas in their parks, we may not see anything until 2018.

Oh, I agree. It'll probably take at least the time that Cars Land took, which as you indicate was about 2 years. But it'll theoretically have the first new E-ticket ride in Disneyland since Indiana Jones in 1995, so hopefully it's a good one.

Also, presumably they would move Star Tours to the new land (maybe add some new scenes with locations in the new films), and my bet is on the Iron Man Experience simulator ride replacing it in Tomorrowland.

Sounds like a good bet. Purists are going to howl, though...they've been griping about other properties (especially Pixar) invading Disneyland for years.

Thunder Ranch is sweet, and I'll miss it. Fantasy Theater is no loss. Never saw a show there that was worth the time. Because of the tiff between Eisner and Spielberg, ToonTown never really reached its potential, but it was cute.

I'm trying to imagine Star Wars mashed up against It's a Small World and the Storybook Canal boats. Sounds like they'll have to move the Disneyland Railroad tracks to accommodate the project, as well.
