I watched 4 with a friend recently and it’s really the most crowd pleasing sequel. So many great moments in it, I love the idea of a bunch of drunk hicks with shotguns riding around in trucks hunting down Michael

The only thing good that came after the first Halloween was Halloween III's soundtrack

I like the actual movie of Halloween III somewhat (the first two acts, anyway), but... yeah.

I can find something to like in ALL the "Halloween" films. Even the ones that I'd rank at the very bottom of the franchise have at least some entertainment value. "Halloween" is my "Star Wars."

Nah, I know Halloween 2 isn't as good but I find it fun and enjoyable.

I really value this comment. Definitely my favorite film series and to have nearly every one in an Uber 4K Collectors Edition is very satisfying. The releases aren’t perfect but they are better than the video tapes I grew up with.

This encompasses my mindset perfectly. Halloween is my favorite movie franchise (along with Star Wars and the View Askewniverse), and like rasbumr said, I love being able to have, for lack of a better term, "definitive" releases for almost the entire series.

Oh absolutely. It's the IP, the brand that we are attached to... I'm a fan of Batman as well, and I watch and enjoy Batman & Robin knowing full well what kind of film it is...

Both 2 and 4 are entertaining IMO and have great endings. 4 is my favorite sequel but 2 has grown on me a lot recently. I used to think it was kind of boring and while it is slow in certain places, it feels more like the original Halloween than any of the other sequels. But I like 4 more because there’s some drama mixed in and isn’t just a pure slasher like 2 is.

Halloween 4 is amazing, not as boring as part 2.

"Halloween is my Star Wars". I have literally stated this line. I'm a film critic who gets early press screenings. At the press screening for Kills, the critic sitting next to me couldn't care less and didn't know much about the franchise. Meanwhile I'm sitting next to him and shaking/foaming at the mouth. He asked why I'm so excited, and I stated........

Apropos of nothing, I found this little gem in an old issue of American Cinematographer from January 1979:

Quote:
JOHN CARPENTER AWARDED

A Special Silver Plaque went to American director John Carpenter, whose “ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13” and “HALLOWEEN” were invited Festival entries. The Chicago Festival, known for discovering directors (Martin Scorsese, 1966; Jan Troel, 1967; Armando Robles Godoy, 1970; etc.) awards Mr. Carpenter for the promise of his talent. He is the one to watch in 1979.

Just like Mike, I'm back when least expected!

Finally picked this up along with II and 4 from the recent Scream flash sale. Kinda wish they sent me the slips, boxes take up more space and would match my collection.
No more buying this movie unless they do a super, duper 8K CGI dead leaves edition.

Are these still coming in the chip boxes? Having them all slipped would be intruiging on space saving, but I dunno I think these boxes will last longer. Still wish Shout would have sold an official box for all 8.

I love both.
I still enjoy part 2, as a kid it was one of my favorites but as I got older the flaws bother me more.

As far as i know Halloween and Halloween 4 have slipcovers, all the others are still being sold with the slip box.

I’ve seen Best Buy and Walmart have the slipcover. I ordered through Amazon around Christmas and received a slip box for 1-3. A bit surprising considering they came out a few years ago.

Yes. I just checked Orbit and Grindhouse stock and they have all of them with slip boxes except Halloween and Halloween 4, those two have slipcovers. I guess those two were the best sellers.
