Thank you guys for the welcome. I was impressed enough that I've ordered around 20 titles in the last few days. Hopefully they will all be well worth it. It didn't hurt that (like you mentioned) many many titles available at really low prices! My average cost is around $10 per title at this point.

Finally watched Ghost in the Shell. Wasn't terribly impressed with the movie or the 3D when I saw it in the theater. Both the movie and the 3D improved for me slightly now watching it at home. Was glad to pick it up in the Best Buy $9.99 sale. I never saw the original at the time of its release (watched the 2.0 version prior to seeing the 2017, now waiting for the Japanese Blu-ray to go down in price as I believe it's the best release of the original). I have no problems with Johansson in this role and I really enjoy this type of scifi movie thematically, so I guess I just wanted the story to be a bit deeper, for the themes to be explored more fully, and for the good 3D layers to be pushed just a bit more. Perhaps it was better as an anime at the time it was made than as live action today.
My 3D watch list: [Show spoiler]

Pacific Rim is a perfect example of how 3D can addict one. When first watching it on cable before I got 3D, turned it off half way through out of boredom. When getting into 3D found a used copy cheap on web. Well, it was like a whole different experience. Loved the movie. Watched it three times in 3D. Quite a difference maker from what I first found to be boring, right? ![]() ![]() |
