That's why you make it look like an accident.

Strangely, I strongly dislike In the Realm of the Senses from Oshima, but love Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and will be picking this up day one. Sometimes I think directors, in general, try many different things, some good and some bad, and the critics and viewers have this notion that all their work is generally consistent. I disagree. Sometimes a director goes a little farther than his style or creativity allows and people just chalk it up to creative genius.
4 times now I've tried to make it through Wings...for some reason I just lose interest. Paris is a favorite though, I could watch any moment of the film at any time. Agreed that the good directors try many different things; some work, some don't, but that's the price you pay for greatness. If no one took risks, there wouldn't be a Criterion Collection.

Hehe...my wife used to lend things out to people at her work. She figured, that I wouldn't notice. Problem was that each time she would lend things out, by the time she got it back...a year has passed. The last time was her best friend and she lost it all. And of course, for compensation...they would get her gift cards to Sephora or something the ladies... while it's my loss and I get zilch.

I don't lend things out to anyone anymore. Although, my sister started getting into Blu-ray and I'm sure she'll be asking soon. Hehe...

If it's your father-in-law, just be cool. Look at it as payback when you leave your kid (When they get older) with him to watch over. J/K!

You can't do that!!!

They'd be confiscated as evidence. Gotta use something you wouldn't mind living without.....your wife perhaps.

Well maybe Beta Man stacks other things in his house as well. Maybe he has a nice stack of leatherbound books or encyclopedias, or a stack of barbell weights lying around.

Last time I ever order from them.
It is interesting to hear of people's experiences with shipping from DD. I ordered twice from them and cancelled the order each time, because the order was "pending" for over three weeks! Never again. They didn't even get around to shipping the wrong stuff, at least I would have had something from them!!
I live in Germany and order practically all my blus from amazon.co.uk. They have the best shipping times of anyone. If I order early enough in the day, it usually takes only two days for the stuff to get to me ... and I order ca. 200 dollars worth of stuff each month. I've never ever had a wrong item either. Amazon.com is great, too but the shipping costs are prohibitive (for Europeans) because shipping is calculated into the import duty value. I have ordered some special boxsets from Amazon.com and have them sent by international courier etc. I had the stuff within 2-3 days, amazing ... but you pay through the nose for it!
Criterion discs I usually buy from axelmusic.com, which is a European import specialist. That takes ca. 8-9 working days, not exactly speedy gonzales, but acceptable as the stuff ships from US/Canada and the prices are moderate. I have a multi-region player from the UK, so I can play all regions. The BFI 'Flipside' series and some of the Criterion releases are just the best thing to happen to blu-ray!

Me too Glad to see in this photo your blus are organized nicely unlike last time when they were stacked in 2 giant piles like the previous Sears Towers which scared me just looking at them

Funny I've order 4 different times from them in the last week or so and most shipped rather quickly. As long as I get the movies at a decent discount I don't mind waiting a reasonable amount of time.

Guys, can someone help me out?
I'm going on my first US vacation in mid-July.
Should I take advantage of the Barnes&Noble sale in a BN store in LA or is it more advisable to order the films online and let them be shipped to my hotel room?

There are other means of persuasion besides killing or threatening to kill.

Get creative. Slip "something else" in the jewel case for him next time.

Just saw that Charade is coming!

Did Criterion have an upgrade program and if so is it still going?

I don't know for a fact, but I doubt UPS or whoever they use to ship with would actually even ship to a hotel-room-address......... Do you know anyone here when you'll be visiting??? You may want to have it shipped to someone's house/apartment..... if not, I think it's risky, and I'd go to a store.
