Grambling will reportedly forfeit it's game tomorrow against Jackson State after a player boycott:

It appears as if the scheduled game between Grambling and Jackson State this weekend will not be played.

According to a report from ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy, Grambling football players have decided not to play this weekend, which would result in a forfeit.

However, Grambling president Frank Pogue said on Thursday that the team was planning on playing the game against Jackson State, and a Jackson State spokesman told the Clarion-Ledger on Friday afternoon that the school was not planning on canceling the game.

If the ESPN report turns out to be true, this is just the latest form of protest from the Grambling team. Earlier this week players left a meeting with the school president and athletic director after becoming frustrated with what president Frank Pogue was telling them.

Pogue fired coach Doug Williams only two weeks into the season and defensive line coach Ezil Bibbs a few weeks later.

After walking out on the meeting on Tuesday, the players did not show up to practice on Wednesday, and there was no practice on Thursday. Then, on Thursday night, the school fired interim coach George Ragsdale who had been named as interim coach to replace Doug Williams.

The Grambling AD should call their bluff and strip scholarships from any player who boycotts the game. Williams has been a disaster as head coach and deserved to be fired. They have one win between last season and this one.

Fair enough. But it sounds like all of this was going on before any of the current players signed scholarships to play there. They knew what they were getting into. I'm sorry, but if you don't abide by the terms of your scholarship you aren't entitled to keep the scholarship.

Thanks. And fair enough, it wasn't a pretty win, that's for sure. Anyway, the real barometer game will come in two weeks against your boys (and the following game vs VTech). These games will be true indicators as to where our program stands right now. May the best team win.
