Can anyone help me with a scan of the E.T. blu-ray cover? I have the Best Buy-exclusive book packaging, but for shelf storage, I'll be putting the disc in a standard blu-ray case.

Please PM me if you can email the file. Many thanks!

The artists who created these original posters and drawings have unique ideas and creative minds. What he does is slap them on a Criterion template without properly giving them credit.

I'm sorry for being blunt, but unless I'm missing something, this is what's happening here. As an artist who has had his stuff sold without his permission, I'm getting a little offended by this. Taking images from official marketing material is fine (yet could technically be taken down by the owners if they were so inclined), but taking artwork by deviantart users and failing to mention it's not yours is not okay.

Again, if you do have permission from every designer and just don't mention it in your posts, I will gladly apologize. But nevertheless, you should credit the original artists, like him for instance: http://daztibbles.deviantart.com/art...yale-278768180"

You'll have to forgive thy ignorance as I have never been to deviantart. But I do totally dig what you are getting at. Sorry about your past spurning from someone else. I get how frustrating that must be.

I think it was made worse by slapping the Criterion C smack dab in the middle too. Why anyone wants to print out fake branded covers is beyond me, but I digress.

I think most artwork in this thread is done without anyone's permission, and that includes official art from the movie. While it would be nice if artists were credited, especially in cases where it looks like artwork was actually created (like the CR example), I don't see it as a major deal, as members here aren't trying to financially benefit from the work either.

Oh I wasn't blaming you for thinking the covers were good. A lot of users have complimented runnersdialzero on his artwork, without knowing that it wasn't his to begin with. Sorry for the confusion

Well the thing is, every single custom cover that this user is posting here is made from someone else's custom-made artwork without him ever specifying it... Even if he isn't making a profit in the end, I think keeping artistic integrity was enough for me to at least point it out.

What is it with everyone jumping all over RDZ about what artwork he chooses to use? He searches the internet for what he feels is the best image to suit the movie he is making a cover for and uses it. I am doing the exact same thing as him. I think if people don't like the criterions he post that's fine but why must everyone constantly ***** and moan about him "stealing" artwork when those artist had to "steal" images/logos from the studio that released the film to make their "original" artwork. If those people didn't want their images used or printed then they shouldn't have hi-res versions available for people to use. This is a custom cover thread and as far as im concered RDZ has customized a cover to fit his liking, thus it is a custom cover. /endofrant

Well, not every one. . I designed my Butch Cassidy, Citizen Kane and 40 Year Old Virgin covers.

Honestly, I get most of these images off Google Images. I don't know who the original artist is. I'm not making a profit off them so who am I hurting? I never claim that I created the cover image. In fact, i tell everyone that I don't. A monkey can do what I'm doing basically. Like you said, I'm using the Criterion template and create the color scheme, that's it. I like it, nobody else has to either. It's just my preference.

I've created almost 200 of these. I'm not going to go back now and find out who created each cover image and credit them. Sorry. :/
