You should feel good about that one jsteinhauer. I don't think I could dance around with a short weapon with the BSB & live to tell the tale.

Just finished Layer 2 of Sinister Iyll & here is the boss.

Took about 10 tries but I finally beat Gasciglone. Yet, Gilbert still has not given me the flamesprayer. I must have messed something up somewhere. Also was I supposed
[Show spoiler]to kill that thing sticking out of the floor by the lamp in the Cathedral Ward? I killed it and it said "All I wanted to do was help." And I notice it did not respawn like enemies dowhen I came back.
I will say after beating Gasciglone, thing opened up for me - Cathedral Ward and Old Yharnam.
[Show spoiler] I've met up with Alfred too. Also got killed by another hunter, not sure if it was someone entering my game or not but it was while I was being shot at with a gattling gun.

I just need to make it through the defiled chalice so I can make the one the queen is in.

The chalice dungeons are harder than any normal game boss.

Most people I saw videos for just "cheesed" the bosses in defiled.

I am also having trouble getting a rare blood gem to drop, but I'm sure it will come in time.

That "woman" on the floor in the Cathedral is an NPC that you needed alive to complete some NPC stories. But her death will not keep you from finishing the game. You're probably missing out on some free sedatives, though, and they are quite expensive to buy. The hunter that killed you was a hunter of hunters. They are tough to beat, and you will find more. You will be notified clearly, if you get invaded. You can run past that hunter and not get pursued incessantly.

I've never thought I'd hate a Souls game so much. The dungeons are a complete waste of time. I've got just the queen to beat for my Platinum and wow. I have no desire to keep playing through it. The dungeons are all the same. Same enemies same mechanisms same stupidity. Find lever fight same boss for the xxxxxx time. Here comes a spider but this spider doesn't take 300 dmg it takes 1300 to kill it. Oh wait here's the rat I met in level one but he's 10x stronger. Oh there's a chest and there's eerie music!! Wow I got a twin shard blade? I don't know how many dead end rooms I've run into that had nothing else but bullets in it?
F-ing waste of time. And the worst part is it's not like you can just go from dungeon to dungeon going deeper and deeper. NOooooooo that would be too easy. You have to go play other dungeons to get that piece of crap ritual material so you can open the next one...seriously? There's farming to better your weapons or lvl up and I can handle that...but "forced" farming..seems cheap very cheap.

Kind of like playing one area to find a key or collecting enough game currency to buy the item that unlocks a gate or door. I don't find the dungeons all that interesting, either, but it's no more of a grind than some parts of Souls games. I spent days farming the same black phantom skeleton in Demon's Souls 3-2 or 3-3 just for a single pure stone. I have not had to spend much time farming the dungeons. I made one extra run through an area to get enough arcane haze for a ritual. Other than that, I have found everything I need just fully exploring the dungeons once.

Just feels cheap. Dont know how to better explain it. I just fought off two bell ringers with their stupid spiders, that fire throwing witch and the fire breathing dogs for 2 Blood Vials?!?!?! That's what the corpse had on him at the far end of the room? Really? There was no point to that honestly. I've spent days trying to farm Morrowstone back in DS...days...so "waiting" for a drop is just plain stupid. One boss, and one dungeon left (IF I actually have the material to open the last one) and I'll slaughter the queen and say goodbye to dungeons.

I don't mind the challenge they bring but I've seen enough spiders and rats.

I know your pain, damn that stone in Demon Souls. Just needed one of those too and it took me quite awhile to get it to drop.

The labyrinths can get repetitive but at least they threw in some new bosses, even though some were ridiculous as all hell. Didn't post it last night but after I beat the Queen I went straight to the end and beat both final bosses. Here's the secret one, after leveling up so much to get through the labyrints it was nice being able to take off some pretty nice chunks of health from this one.

In my previous video where I killed the Queen in the labyrinthe that final hit I got on her was just beautiful. Kind of a great feeling to kill a boss with a riposte.

How do you cheese that first boss in Defiled? The fire dealing witch. I go in there with about 625 health, I'd estimate, and she must deal about 600 damage with some of her hits. I tried a few times and got her down about half. I might need to find some better fire protection. She can be parried, but I can't yet read her attacks, and it does not seem worth it, as one riposte is not much different from four regular attacks. The cost of making a mistake on the parry is too high to take the risk.

The other boss that has me stuck right now is Abhorrent Beast. I think just getting close enough to hit him deals bolt damage. And he's cheesy. The action belies his reach.

On the witch I would stay back to keep away from her fire and do my spin attack with the hunters axe as she would start to come towards me. Sometimes you miss and have to jump/roll back but a lot of times when she's walking towards you she'll end up going into a run and run right into it.

The Abhorrent Beast can eat a big one as far as I'm concerned. Took me so long to kill him. As you said, he's cheesy and I swear he practically has Dhalsim arms. There are times where I had to call bulls*** when he hit me because I should have been out of reach.

She can be parried. Also her fire dmg when she sways her arms is only in front of her. If you can, the min she goes to swipe dodge in to get behind her. You will get one hit if you're lucky because she jumps away quickly. It when she hits you with the flamed up sword that is devastating. Use a long range weapon if possible and bring in some fire protection.

Dealing with Amydgala or whatever the f the name is. Classic DS camera issue where you cant see what the boss is doing but one hit kills you..awesome

If you need help with Amygdala, look at my Youtube video I posted. It took me awhile to beat her since I went at it slow but if you jump around in the video you can get the idea for my strategy that was real easy.

Yeah, it can be quite annoying but be thankful you didn't do what I did. Spend hours dying on a boss dozens and dozens of time that you didn't even need to fight in the first place.

God damn that Loran Beast.

For those interested in the lore/ story behind Bloodborne, a well made video has been posted that puts things back in historical order (the maker seems to be making a few assumptions though, so some points might change over time):

The First video covers the beginning of the game up to the first two bosses:

I'll watch that when I get home from work but just like Demon Souls and Dark Souls there are only small details and assumptions when it comes to lore. To get everything you usually need From Software to release something or another with the details.

You could piece some things together in Demon Souls though, but that did have a pretty easy story to follow. Mainly because they explain it in the beginning of the game. That game was more about learning some backstory to the NPCs.

The queen area dungeon does not drop very many good gems.

The sinister does.

To write of these dungeons after the queen... you will be missing some very nice goodies.

I'm getting level 19 gem drops in Sinister. Also finally found a Rune. They may be called the same but they do not have the same effect.

I found a few weapons too. Again you might think ahh same weapon. lol

Nope

It has different shape gem slots. "Lost" weapons found in dungeons are the most powerful weapons in the game. If you can find Ghurman's weapon, you'll be laughing no matter how many times to enter NG+
