I’m the first one to go after the slow shipping complainers, but if some folks wanted their horror titles in before the end of this month I do get it this time.

However, I’m a big fan of Orbit and a loyal customer so despite my earlier negative view of some of these sale goof ups, I still think they are one of the best retailers out there and conduct their normal standards of business without incident.

I don't think thats necessarily fair in this case. For instance I placed an order on Sept 25th. I did not receive any correspondence from this company until Oct 7th explaining the backorder issues. Thats almost 2 weeks of silence on their part and no nothing is in my spam folder or the likes. I know the deal when ordering from smaller stores online, shipping media mail, the whole shabang. I am patient.

I am ordering assuming they have stock of the films they have listed for their sale but imo they overreached here. They should have been listing certain films as backordered maybe they will change their approach in the future. Again I'm not angry and I am excited to be receiving my order but I'm not hand waving away people who are upset about the situation.

I'm still waiting for a tracking number for my Sept 15 order from Oldies.com.

I had an order in 2021 which took 3 weeks to ship with no replies to my follow up. I figured I'd give them another chance because 2021 was still affected by the stay home advisory. My wait will be 4 weeks if my package isn't sent by this Friday.

I think that at least two weeks should be considered normal during a big sale -- mainly because it is normal.

I once ordered "The Ascent" during a Criterion sale, and it took close to two months for it to arrive! And almost as long for an Arrow import (Over the Edge), which was way worth it btw; not a speck of dust collected on that title.

So if you assume a two-week window, anything sooner is a welcome bonus. That said, I believe the labels should also do their part and give customers the courtesy of knowing if there are backordered titles (preferably before the customer commits to that purchase!)

I just received an email from Orbit that the titles I have in question were Faceless 4K and The Changeling 4K (both from Severin). Faceless' slip was heavily damaged and the Changeling did not have a slip. No other titles were mentioned. Thought I'd let everyone know that Orbit is sending out communication now so check your email.

This is getting to be utter nonsense from ORBIT. They wrote my brother the same email regarding THE CHANGELING and gave him 24 hours to respond if he still wants the release, otherwise they are just going to send it and bank the money. 24 hours? What if someone doesn't see the email in time? That's bush league tactics and I'm sorry, but as much as I used to love ORBIT, I feel they dropped the ball on this sale and its ridiculous aftermath.

Orbit was nimble, I'm sure your brother can return it. They are a small operation and I got both my orders and removed one item from each order and they were super snappy with the refunds as well. I disagree with your assessment. Severin was the one who messed up and didn't send them the expected slips.

Then I would say Orbit needs to step up and not pass on Severin's mistake to us buyers. Allowing only 24 hours to accept or reject an alteration to an order that was made in good faith does not extend that good faith back. It should not be incumbent upon customers to meet any imposed deadline when the customer is blameless in this entire situation. Orbit is not acting in a professional way.

I'm sure they are tying to be mindful of shipping turnaround. Imagine the logistics of a small operation fielding emails from 1000 people. On top of this, you give them a weeks window to respond. Forget getting orders out in a timely manner to appease the dustcover minority. Timely shipping goes out the door and neckbeards here loose control of their bowels. Imagine the dumpster fire in the forum! You're really damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Most people here are checking their emails every 5 seconds anyway, so it's no real biggie. Right?

Bah, that all just sounds like blind company loyalty excuses than any legitimate counterpoint. Never mind damned if you do, damned if you don't, they have not handled any of this in a professional way and all the alibis on their behalf just make them look more amateur and slipshod in the long run. They can't defend themselves so everyone on this site who has sympathetic faith in them over EVERYTHING has to come in and defend them? I defended them myself earlier in the thread, but the issues keep on coming and all it seems to indicate is that they were in no way prepared to handle such a sale.

If everyone on this thread wants to chip in and put on a benefit show for them with more attempts at explanations and justifications, I think it's only convincing others that Orbit does not have their act together, not that they are the greatest retailer in the history of human commerce. I was a very loyal customer and hope to be again and no, it's not the end of the world to have delays, but making the grade school mistake of not BCC'ing a group email and then forcing customers to adhere to a deadline for correcting THEIR mistakes is too much to keep praising them on the basis of past glories. I stand by my contention that they were not prepared for this sale and that rookie mistakes have been made and continue to be made.

most, practically all businesses, aren’t amazon. so you should never expect amazon speed for shipping.

you also pay for prime. you are not paying for any such service with any boutique.

these sales all wind up being way busier than the operations expect, so i don’t know why people are surprised that it might take longer than they initially planned for.

not just verucs salts we have, but veruca salts who want to speak with the manager lol.

I received my order a week ago. But I don't think any of mine had slips or anything that would have delayed them.

Did the Serbians abduct the real Echo when he was in Europe? What the hell is going on? We need to investigate! I assume end of days is nigh, as ProfEcho has turned since he came back to the states.

It's the real me, my U-Boat comrade of many years. I just don't have a lot of patience for people who consistently devote blind, deaf and dumb loyalty to any company over all common sense evidence. A a fervent anti-establishment child of the 60's, I put very little trust in business or corporate culture which milks their loyalists like the Kool Aid drinking sheep they are (name calling to retaliate for being called a Veruca Salt). In this case, I don't see what's so wrong with calling out Orbit as being non-professional in their handling of this sale, but I guess their TRUE FANS will not be silenced and have to keep coming back to extol their virtues no matter the reality of the situation.

You are right though that I have been posting a lot of negativity lately, especially yesterday and today, and all inspired by this same pet peeve of mine with folks investing more faith and good will in organizations than I think is warranted. This was especially true in the KINO thread yesterday and I find it often in the Criterion thread too as if people are all relatives of the employees at these places. In any case, just for you my friend I will make an effort to be more positive and stop with the repetitive rants all the time. I appreciate you knowing me well enough to spot this flaw(?) in my character. Oh and I'm not back in the States, I'm still in the Fatherland awaiting deployment on my next U-Boat hitch.

To be fair, there have been more than just complaints about slow shipping. And anyone who holds Amazon up as any kind of example for a reputable and enviable retailer should arrange to pick up Matt Damon and fly back from Mars asap.

Anyone else think the Criterion sale will be next Tuesday?

My code for $20 for the anniversary of the channel is still unused and didn't waste money on Amazon days this week, so it's time to create a list.
