So they replaced three things and could not get the receiver out of protection mode. The receiver is going to be replaced. It's aggravating that I'll be receiving a refurbished unit when this item is only 3 months old. I could have saved some money and bought refurbished in the first place.

That does bite and I have read about the 4000 model having those problems but not the x2200. Hopeful its just the one bad unit you got and the new one will be ok.

Good to know, I was looking at the 4200 as a future upgrade.

If any one is curious to know the up date for the x4200w and x6200w to play the upmixers in which ever version you want is slated for nov. 14th. You will be able to use dolby surround or dts x neural without having to switch anything in the blu ray player.

So, just an update. Denon is sending me a brand new unit, not a refurb, and they are upgrading me to a X2300W. This whole ordeal has been a huge hassle, but at least it seems that they are trying to make up for it, although in reality they probably just didn't have any X2200W's available.

Good to hear you are getting a new receiver and can enjoy your movies again.

Received my X2300W on Saturday morning, set it up and so far so good. The ECO mode is defaulted to off, so I imagine it was turned off on my X2200W, I set it to On as opposed to Auto. It still sounds fine to me so I do not see any reason to turn it off.

Does Denon video upscaler do a good job or better off keeping it off? I have it connected to Oled C6 TV and Sony VPL45 projector

I have my x6200w eco on auto and there have been some people on avs that have tested eco in auto/on and at -10 listening levels there was no sound difference according to their graphs.
Rocky I let my oled do all the upscaling and use the avr to do sound but everyone has diff. opinions. I look at it like its the TV's job to take care of the picture and the avr's job to take care of sound.

The little H height indicator light on my front display won't light up and no sounds come from the height channels while using DTS Neural X. Am I missing something or shouldn't the H be lit while I'm also receiving sound from the heights in Neural X? When i play a native Dolby Atmos blu ray or use DSU the H lights up and i get sound from the height channels. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I believe you will have to run Audyssey again and tell the receiver that the height speakers are connected.

Thanks for confirming. I too have an Oled TV.
By the way, what happens when you play a 7.1 DTS-H Master on a 5.1.2 system? Will the front heights be engaged or do I still have to apply Neural X to engage heights?

I've run Audyssey twice and have made multiple checks to see that I have everything connected correctly and that I have the amp assignment correct. Everything seems to be as the manual indicates but I can't find the problem. Any other ideas? Thanks for the reply.

I have mine set to when a dolby soundtrack is on it plays dolby surround upmix and the same with dtx x upmix so I don't have to keep switching to engage my heights. Once you set it then it should auto do it when you turn on your receiver.

But doesn't that mean butchering the soundtrack and pushing it further away from the way the director intended it to sound like?

Depends on what you are wanting to get out of your speakers? Yes using upmixers is diff. than what the director intended just like if your tv is not calibrated than it is diff. colors than what the director intended so it depends on what you want/like. I have been watching movies with the upmixers and they sound great esp. when you have a sound overhead. The other night we watched casper and everyone was looking at the ceiling when the ghosts flew through or when it rained you could hear the rain over top of you,so again do what you want/like but I like having my heights working with the upmixers.

If that's what you feel, Then just don't use the upmixers. You always ask this (and stuff like this) in the form of trying to make folks somehow feel guilty about using a feature that is built into their receivers the way you form it as a question. Why does this line of questioning sound so familiar from you?

Just using front heights? No atmos overheads?

I have front and rear heights for Atmos setup. I have full svs 5.1 set up (prime towers, center, sat.) And 4 svs SATs mounted at the top of wall next to ceiling. They are pointed down at the mlp and configured as front and rear atmos in the receiver.

I did not know there was such thing as rear Atmos. My Denon doesn't have a configuration for those
