I almost shut off ACT. It felt like it wasn't going anywhere...honestly, its the only Criterion blind buy I've made in years that I likely would not have made had I streamed it first.

Haha, I never saw that tree. For some reason I just saw it and thought Sword of Doom cover, but now that you said something I see the tree and hat. Nice.

11 for 11. Just watched Gomorrah. Loved it.

Having family from Italy, this film opened my eyes to a whole 'nother world I never could have imagined. Very scary stuff indeed.

I think doing this type of thing is fun and gets to see everyone's preferences. Maybe Criterion reads this too. Who knows. Anyways:

What director(s) that is already in the collection and has yet to have a blu-ray release of a film (in the collection or not) would you like to see Criterion do soon?

I have a few:

Louis Malle
Luis Buñuel
John Cassavetes
Eric Rohmer

and

Maurice Pialat (but they had the chance to in August so I guess a long wait.)

I can't believe out of these 5 that there is not one blu release yet.

Is it new? I would say yes because I really like the film.

Finally recieved my blu-ray copy of Pierrot le Fou in the mail today. Funny, it arrived in Austin on Saturday, but UPS wouldn't deliver it until today, the "scheduled delivery date" lol. Why bother holding on to something that's just taking up space? Those kinds of things make no sense to me lol

I'd like to see more Japanese directors. Masaki Kobayashi, Yasujiro Ozu, Kenji Mizoguchi just to name the big ones other than Kurosawa.

Shohei Imamura would also be welcome but looks like MoC's got that covered.

Jean-Pierre Melville and Jean Renoir haven't had a blu yet either, but Studio Canal own most of their films, so we probably won't see them from Criterion. Hopefully Le Cercle Rouge is solid when that comes out later this year.

I'd love to see Georges Franju go blu. Les Yeux Sans Visage in 1080p would be awesome!

Unless, you're paying extra money for a Saturday delivery, then UPS doesn't deliver on the weekends. So, just be glad you got it on the "scheduled delivery date."

I'm not giving a review of the film(s)...merely if the film(s) "grabs" me or not. It would be pretty silly to "review" two films if I've only seen one completely.

I'm not saying that "A Christmas Tale" is a bad film...but Summer Hours is a "lighter" film and one that I can relate to, as I lost both my parents at a fairly young age and went through something simiar when I was trying to settle my mother's estate with my other siblings.

How do you even know if there will be a Studio Canal Collection release of "The Third Man" through Lionsgate? I can't recall it being mentioned anywhere, yet. It's scheduled for a European release, for sure, but I don't think there's been mention of a U.S. re-release through Lionsgate.

I know I'm being difficult, but up to this point, there still hasn't been any concrete release information for a 'Studio Canal Collection' USA release.
