I kind of understand it back then... RPG just didn't sell.

However, there is a massive market now a days and still Nintendo is stuck in the 80s. This mentality is one of my biggest fear/concern when it comes to Nintendo.

Has anyone bought Earthbound yet? I had this game in my youth... but never got into it. From what I am reading about it I am really missing out by never playing it.

What's funny is Nintendo gave me my first JRPG. Back when I was a kid Nintendo sent me a free copy of the original Dragon Warrior for the NES with my subscription to Nintendo Power. I didn't even know what an RPG was until then but been hooked on them ever since.

Man... that makes me want a Dragon's Quest bad.

I wish Nintendo would get off of their arse and big the 3ds remake of Dragon Quest 7 to the States.

That game was seriously the reason why I bought a 3DS...

Sadly Dragon Quest IV, V and VI all sold poorly in North America on the DS at around 200k a piece, or about 10% of sales in Japan. Even DQ IX, which was a brand new DS exclusive only sold about 500k in the U.S. I have all four, and loved them. The four DQ games were the biggest reason I bought a DS. Hard to say if they will localize VII for the 3DS, but I hope they do.

Most JRPGs don't even sell 100k copies in the U.S. and yet are still called successful and that's for like ones released on consoles.

Well Mother 3 does exist, but it's not on Nintendo 64.

No, Mother 3 was a Game Boy Advance game. Well reviewed but maneuver had a U.S. release.

Anyone knows if it's possible to share the eshop credit between the 3ds and the Wii U? I got a $30 code and I'll probably use it on the Wii U eshop more, but I don't have one yet.. and the code expires September 30th, so I want to redeem it on my 3ds but buy games when I get a wii U

I shouldn't even be asking this, and it should be a given.. but knowing Nintendo..

I know your credits / games do transfer from the Wii to the Wii U.

There is a setup you need to do for it when you 1st start up your Wii U. Note you will need a SD card for this process though.

***Looks like this process might be for games only***

You can't transfer credit's. They are only for the respective system you have them on unfortunately.

Can you spot the major problem with this picture?

[Show spoiler]That is not the Wii U. That is the black version of the original Wii with the Wii U controller on top of it...

First blow has been struck to Nintendo here in the UK. After weeks of slashed prices on Wii U hardware ASDA(Walmart) have completely stopped selling Wii U Hardware and Software in all of it's stores.

Quote:

UK retail behemoth Asda has removed Wii U games and consoles from its supermarket shelves.

The chain will continue to sell Wii U products online via its Asda Direct website, it told Eurogamer, but no longer through its stores.

"Asda continues to offer customers a selection of Wii U games and accessories through Asda Direct, but these ranges are currently not on offer in Asda shops," a spokesperson said.

Asda has yet to explain the reasoning for its decision, but its likely due to the ongoing sales struggle faced by the console in the UK - and worldwide.

The supermarket was previously home to a killer £199 price-tag for the Wii U Premium bundle, and is still offering the Wii U Basic for £149 online. Was this just to clear stock, ahead of the system's removal from stores?

The move ironically comes just as Nintendo finally starts releasing software for Wii U again. The brilliant Pikmin 3 launched in the UK last week alongside New Super Mario Bros. expandalone New Super Luigi U. The Wonderful 101 and Ubisoft-developed Rayman Legends both arrive in August, meanwhile.

We've asked Asda for further information on the change, and whether the decision is a permanent one.

Following the emergence of this story around various outlets, Asda has contacted MCV to state that Wii U consoles have only ever been available in around 100 stores, rather than all 555 around the UK. Wii U systems will apparently continue to play a part on Asda Direct — the online store — with limited availability currently the result of the reduced hardware going out of stock. The absence of 3DS hardware on Asda Direct is said to be a result of price promotions also selling out stock, with the chain stating that it's increasing support for the handheld. It's also reiterated that Wii U hardware can be picked up in store if ordered using Asda Direct's Click & Collect service.
As outlined in the original article below, the Asda Direct website doesn't currently demonstrate much support for Nintendo systems, with just eight Wii U products currently available.

any pick up pikmin 3 yet. being playing over the week end. worth picking up

No matter how many stores they were sold at that is still a major blow to Nintendo.

I know Amazon (at least in the U.S.) doesn't sell any Nintendo consoles. They haven't for a few years. I think it's just because Nintendo is hard to deal with. I've heard of a few major retailers who don't sell their consoles.
