It allows you to read information about characters and other things while you watch the episode.

It's an interactive tool that allows you to learn more about the history of each family, background on each character and cut-scenes on historical events from the past. I haven't used it much only because I know everything from the books and watching the show many times.

Thats a pretty cool feature, but for me, after watching the first season when it aired, and now starting again today, I can say I learned so much more about little things here and there by just watching a 2nd time. I'll still check the feature out, though.

Thanks! Was wondering what that was, useful for those who have never read the books cause it can be confusing trying to figure out who is who

There is a new fan among the ranks. I got my dad to watch the series. He went through it in 2 days which is really quick for him. He can't wait to see Dany kick some ass. Which got me thinking does anyone else think they might quicken that storyline up somewhat. It drags in places.
[Show spoiler]He was disappointed when I told him she wouldn't go to Westoros til prolly Season 6 or 7

This thread is killing me. Still patiently waiting for the right time to allocate 12 hours for a marathon session. Not this weekend for sure.

I opened my Stark copy today. Of course, the digipack cardboard that holds the discs is bent. The slipcase and slipcover are fine. It annoys me but I watched disc 1 and on to disc 2.

Well, I'd say it's more that he's being true to the way life was during our own Middle Ages. When a person's lifespan was shorter than it is now, life in all its aspects tended to start earlier. It wasn't uncommon in our own past for girls (and boys) to marry and start having kids as soon as they hit puberty.

It's more just trying to stay true to the Middle Ages influence of the stories. People were married off much younger back then and were considered a complete adult by their late teens.

Ugh. Why did HBO put episodes 3,4, and 5 all on the same disc? I know this is my fault but I watched through episode 4 and then put in disc 3 to watch episode 5 (which was actually episode 6). So I watched episode 6 all the way through and felt like it was disjointed the whole time and didn't figure out that I had skipped an entire episode until after. If there is 5 discs and 10 episodes wouldn't it make sense to put 2 episodes per disc? Great show though

There wouldn't be room for all the extras if you divided them like that. Anatomy of an episode is essentially an entire episode in itself on disc 3 and disc 5 has the remaining extras.

The blu-ray menu clearly lists the episode number and title you are selecting. I understand its easy to not pay attention, but next time try to pay attention a little more.

All this talk about the nudity and sex. I watched the first five episodes on a Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong to Toronto last November. The series was uncut and uncensored, which sure as heck surprised me while sitting in my economy class seat watching it!

Anyway, I haven't read any of the books, but I was impressed by HBO's efforts, evident even on that tiny screen embedded on the seat back in front of me. There will be some occasion, I don't know when - it could be next week, or next fall - where I'll rent the series and watch them all in glorious blu-ray on my 50" plasma.

I know what you mean. My sister is always fishing for clues of how events will unfold, and when she discovers that events she is expecting next season have still not occurred even in the books, she gets a little crestfallen.

However I think it would be a big mistake for the production company to move things along faster. Given that Martin writes at the pace of continental drift, I really doubt they want to come to the end of existing material sooner that they have to. Season 1 should have shown them that people have an appetite for a slower burning series like this with lots of intrigue. One that does not rely on checking off the laundry list of expected plot events before continuing on. Also, since Martin is a producer of the show himself, at least he has a little say-so in these matters.

The one exception I can see them making is for books 4 and 5. I could see those merged and condensed into one season, otherwise they will drag.

She's got enough going on that they won't need to rush that. Besides, she's the queen, people come to her.
