Not true. Paramount delivered raw scans to Shout, and they released their own, in-house digital 3-D master. We spoke with the people at Shout early on in the process and gave them a VERY reasonable discounted quote, but they declined and wanted to do the work themselves.

The ultimate recall of the disc spoke volumes.

Regarding Jivaro, there’s a very brief section (a few seconds) with an audio sync issue on a post-looped overdub, but the stereoscopic image is totally in proper alignment and synchronization. The only faded color is the baked-in dupe opticals which is typical for all Eastman color productions from that era.

That makes me wonder - does Turbine also have the same raw scans to work from? I imagine they must if they're doing the kind of adjusting they're talking about, no?

My only 3D television (a 2012 Samsung 1080p) died last year and was irreparable.

I only had 3 discs (Friday the 13th Part 3, Jaws 3D and Flesh for Frankenstein - plus a 3D download of the IMAX Haunted Castle short film), but I absolutely adored all of them.

Neither of my current televisions has 3D capability, and I really miss watching these films as intended. My only option seems to be 3D projection, but that comes at a cost I just can't stomach right now!

It seems like we have this fight with WaverBoy every time there's a non-3DFA vintage release. As much as I love the 3DFA, I am willing to give others the benefit of a doubt before writing them off. I'm content to see what Turbine does here, same as I'm content to see what 88 Films does with Magnificent Bodyguards. Warners and Sony did find jobs on the 3D films they restored, after all.

Honestly, this isn't exactly my favorite film anyway. I never did understand the appeal of this series. The 3D is fun but silly and the actions of the Final Girl during the finale made me shake my head. Seriously, you hit him in the head with a shovel. Keep hitting him until his head is mush. But I digress. I know there's people who love this series in general and 3D fans who think this is the best 3D movie of all time. Like I said, I think many of the effects are fun but silly. Having heard so much about the eyeball popping out over the years, I didn't expect it to look so silly when I finally watched it. But it does.

That said, I dropped money on the Shout set just to get the 3D disc, so now I'll get the Turbine disc and see if they improved it. If so, I hope they do tackle Metalstorm and Amityville. I'm with the guy who would rather the 3DFA work on getting out what's not out already.

Besides, there comes a point where you should just be happy you're getting these titles. We're almost a full decade since the last 3D TV got made. The fact that we're still getting discs is pretty impressive.

Bonus points if they also do Parasite and Comin' At Ya! I'd also love to see them release Gun Fury so they could correct the out-of-sync audio that ruined the US blu-ray release.

And Jaws 3D (1975) please!!
Two words, Turbine:

Spacehunter.
Starchaser.

My point exactly. But to some chronic complainers, it's never enough.

Putting the actual '3D' aside, I'd say F13th 3D is the worst 3D horror film I've seen from the silver age. Even if the 3D ends up looking perfect the movie is horrendous. This one is mostly about the pop outs. I'm watching Silent Madness or Parasite over F13th all day. Pre-ordered the bundle to support but it will be a chore to sit through again

Buying most of these new releases for me is to support the cause. For sure I don't need two of the same movie but I have them. I will buy everything Turbine releases no matter if it's good or bad. If we all decide we are not buying the stuff they release it will soon dry up and we get nothing.

You can judge how good a 3D movie is by watching it in 2D. If you don't notice the absence of 3D, than it's good.

Columbia/Sony don't seem to even want to give Spacehunter it's correct aspect ratio, let alone 3D. The elements exist on all accounts, but would probably need scanning first before it even gets any further, as the 2.35:1 doesn't seem to exist in any video/digital format, only on film.

I don't want to harsh as much on the Silver Age titles as I used to considering the fact that the 3-D feature I shot and am editing is probably pretty in line with the type of thing you would get from a 70s or 80s 3D movie. Not to say that I suddenly think F13P3 is a great movie--it's pretty bad actually. But I'm trying not to be as judgy as I used to. I'm sure when Scream a Little Dream comes out, some people will have things to say about it being an exploitation pic, which admittedly it kinda is, and sneering about me coming down on films like this one and Flesh for Frankenstein. BTW, this is in no way me trashing my own movie, I just recognize that I could have done a classier story than I did.

I'm actually considering getting the rest of the Turbine releases just to support the cause myself. I certainly buy every vintage 3D release to support the cause, whether or not I like the movie or am interested in seeing it. I had no interest whatsoever in The Flesh and Blood Show or Parasite but bought them (and strangely kinda enjoyed Parasite). I absolutely hated The Stewardesses but bought that. I even bought Prison Girls but have never watched it (nor am I likely to). I will continue to buy every vintage release, no matter what it is or who puts it out. Except for Kino's reissue of The Stewardesses this year. Eff that film. I bought it once and once was too much.

I say it a little differently but the same basic idea. There are 3D movies that are good enough that if I see them on TV flat, I might not instantly change the channel. Then there are 3D movies that you couldn't pay me enough money to watch them flat.

Yeah, I watched it too. It felt often like "Ok, what's the meaning of this juggling scene shot from that weird angle? Ah! It was a 3D showcase!"
Really looking forward to the 3D version.

With Full HD 3D, HDR and Dolby Vision, all 4K resolutions in the search with only items still being made and in the market.

Minimum price rises to USD$1.100.

That's the latest trio of 3D treats from Turbine despatched (just got my notification), picked up the Friday the 13th Part 3 steelbook cheap from Amazon Italy last week in anticipation of sliding the Turbine 3D disc in place of the redundant DVD therein (so I have the 3D disc and the old blu-ray with the extras about the 3D version in one handy nice set). Looking forward to checking out the new 3D master!

Postman Delivered A nice surprise today.

Happy to see this has a reversable cover, with front & side in English.

Third 3D version I have bought (the Anaglyph & Shout), Hopefully, the last.

Looking forward to compare this to the Shout release.

I got it yesterday and watched it on my Optoma projector last night. I can't say that I saw a massive difference in terms of 3D from the Shout disc. It was slightly easier on the eyes maybe but my friend still thought it was hurting his eyes. Unfortunately the image is still very soft, nothing they can do to change that. I was hoping some of the extreme 3D effects would work better, but it wasn't just misalignment in the Shout disc. Even with the corrections, some of the extreme effects still fail.

Oh well, I still have Scream 6 to watch!
