PA just previewed the contents for the Paterson premium box:

The Paterson preorder on Feb 11 is for the premium box only. They replied to someone on twitter and said that "other editions are coming later"

They also now posted that of the 2,000 copies of Paterson being made, the priority is for Premium boxes.

The early March preorder for fullslip copies will only be whatever is left of the original 2,000 run that wasn't sold with the premium box

Ugh. I don’t want to buy the box set but also don’t want to miss out on Paterson. I’m collecting one of each movie. What are the odds that these sell out in the premium sets?

They won't. 2000 sets is actually a lot. The Foxcatcher box has 1050 copies and still hasn't sold out a year and a half later. The Mommy box has 850 copies and I think was available for a while.

Every version of the last 4 steelbooks they did are still available for purchase too.

It seems like Plain's popularity has waned a bit, and even beyond that it feels like Paterson is more of a niche title.

Just wish I could order my fullslip copy right now! Been very excited about this release but do not have the space nor do I want to spend the money on the full box lol. I need that nice fullslip edition to put on my shelf next to all the other fullslips..

Honestly, I have no idea what Plain's even doing anymore. Their releases as of late have been total scattershot. Suddenly they're releasing DVDs left and right (Florida Project, Jackie, The Assassin, 20th Century Women, 99 Homes, Slow West; all releases I easily would've bought on Bluray), re-releasing Carol twenty times, skipping Now You See Me and just release its sequel (out of the blue, btw), and now this new strategy by releasing the Premium Boxset of Paterson first and whatever surplus remains we'll just stick in it a regular fullslip. I've been with PA since their release of The Wrestler (#02) but they're not making it easy.....

I agree, it’s a bit puzzling. I guess they are doing what they feel is best for sales.

I think they've claimed they will release Florida Project on blu. They're just throwing out some cheap DVDs first?

But yeah, they used to work on a pretty strict, monthly schedule. At least 1 or 2 new movies per month. Now it seems they're only releasing 1 movie every 3 months or so. And it's not even the movies they've announced or have been planning. It's quite baffling.

I believe their DVDs sell quite well in Korea. If they didn't sell then they wouldn't keep doing them. Just like DVDs still outsell blu-rays in the US as far as I know.

Because it is still U$86.89! Even the 1,300 full slip steel book is available at U$37.89!

Not saying it's not worth U$87; there's only so many people in the world who likes that movie so much that they are dying to get their hands on the extras . . . there is simply lack of demand for something like Foxcatcher.

I'd buy it at U$20! I liked the movie and enjoyed it.

I really hope they get around to doing the Florida Project on blu because I was excited when I heard it was likely and I’ve been disappointed nothings come of it.

You'd be really upset if you found out shipping alone on that thing is $53.

Son of Saul was known for a while, and is the only thing in there I'm interested in.

Really didn't like 20th Century Women at all.
Haven't see Toni Erdmann. Heard good things, but not good enough to spend $40 on a blind buy.
Maggie's Plan was a fine movie. But not anything that screams "Special edition" to me. It's something I'd consider buying a standard blue-case version for like $5.
