It looks more like a bad spray-on tan. Looks terrible, I'm sorry to say, even to my untrained eye. More color is not always better. Also, I have never touched paint and don't see a need to. The only setting I mess with at all is the backlight and that's only slightly and rarely.

I couldn't watch a movie with these settings.

The 'more is better' approach to contrast and colour is not what improves picture beyond its limits. There is a reason there are contrast and brightness test patterns, so that we know how much we can push black and white levels without crushing blacks or clipping whites.
To simply set tv contrast to maximum and then adding more contrast from the player can only lead to disaster in terms of PQ.
I use standard on the player, ISF Dark, and HDR Standard for all my viewing with just adjustments to oled light in ISF settings depending on ambient light in the room.
But thank you LG Corp for Paint Brush so that others can enjoy it[emoji14]

Calibration rates are currently:
$125 per hour. Maximum of 4 hours for a single input, 6 hours for two inputs or settings.
Travel – $1 per mile
From...

https://referencehometheater.com/cal...ns-price-list/

Settings for me, I guess, But Im always adding inputs:

3D 1080p
HDR10
DV
Sat Top Box Dish TV
DVD
2D Blu Ray 1080p
12 inch Platter Laser Disc
E6 Vudu App DV, HDX
Sony higher end Blu Player
LG UP970
Onkyo AVR input
Will Navidia Shield be another Input?

Interesting my E6 Netflix app involke different settings than my LG UP970 Netflix App

Rockylll
You stated $400 above upthread for a TV Pro Calibration. That must be the Good Life.

Of cource many homes have Multiple TV Displays.

Anyone inputing a Projector. Thats an Expensive one!
$400-$750 for Rear Projector

But for the Mass of Peoples that like paying $140 for a new LG Up970 from AV Stores... they may just prefer to save their 2-3 displays Pro Calibration cost and instead buy to $3000 in UHD 4K Blu Ray disc movies. And with much much Happy Smiles do their own Custom Settings and as well have FUN with THEIR LG UP 970 Paint Brush icon User Settings

I have my paintbrush settings at 11. Because it's one more. Also have the Dobly switched all the way up.

So if I use the highest contrast settings on the tv + add contrast from the player I no longer require a pro calibration for best reference picture

LG UP970 remotes Info/Menu button when selecting Option
then selecting Paint Brush Icon then selecting "User Settings"(Modifying Contrast, Brightness, Color, Sharpness)...

TECHNICALLY

Changes the Blu Ray Disc Video Signal as it outputs from its HDMI port.

If your Movie from DVD, 1080p Blu disc, HDR10 disc receives Sub-Par reviews for Video then Paint Brush can be a Joy for your Family Home Movie viewing.

Say http://WWW.Blu-Ray.com reviews the UHD 4K HDR Disc Movie. And gave Video a 2 stars. With the review saying that it was way too dark. HD Brightness not that good. Or Contrast was inferior for HDR Quality one expects from 4K disc. Some people would want to augment the Blu Player's HDMI Output Port #1 signal.

Consider. When you watch a 3D Blu Disc movie. If say Blu-Ray.com reviews say The Movie coming from disc is too dark. Much Darker then whats show on Cinema Theater...

Paint Brush it. So that its Video electronic signal output from HDMI #1 is more Pleasing.

If your 3D Glasses makes your Movie extremely Dark compared to your 3D experience at the Cinema Theater...

Maybe Paint Brush can save the Movie in your Family TV room by the UP970's Internal Electronics modifying its output video signal.

Peoples on the Forums say the Sony x800 Blu Disc Player gives great video processing, more color, brightness, etc). I believe its called their X1 Processor on the x800 player(correct me if its called different). This is actually electronic processing of the video signal before it reaches the TV.

The difference with LG UP 970 Player is the Home Viewer can augment to their Family Liking with Paint Brush icon User settings.

On some of the OPPOs there is a Magnificient thing called Darby. Video quality is enhanced electronically at the Players video signal output. Its Expensive. But what is enhanced video quality worth to the viewer.

Paint Brush Video Electronic Signal processing is included Free with the UP970 Player.

Home Theater Movie disc viewers can chose to use it or not to use it.

You shouldn't have to adjust settings to suit each disc you put in.

All you can do with paint brush is increase: contrast, brightness, colour, sharpness.
All of the above have an impact on the picture which can quickly lead to clipping whites and blacks, over saturating colors, and over sharpening edges.
Paint Brush is not this picture improving tool that will magically improve a movie over what that movie was originally intended to look like.
In the end, not all movies are intended to be overly bright or overly colorful. The more we keep our player in Standard mode the more reference picture we'll get to capture.

OK I've read a few post on this thing buzzing loud? well i have the buzz...bad! i just bought starship troopers, close encounters , and cast underpants and all three 4k disks sound horrible! i put the disks in and it sounds as if they are spinning so fast its that annoying vibration or buzz, yes the disks are fine! is this an LG problem? i highly doubt any update will fix this this seem internal? i played the regular blu ray and no buzz? played a lot of the blu rays no issue, now i put in the ghostbuster4k and its fine? I'm guessing i need to give LG a call and see if they can replace this thing huh? I'm not paying 300 for a bum machine! so any info thanks!

You have the LG One Year Warranty right?

Read in Forum your unit was working OK back in April? Guess apparently you have an Early Built Unit.
Have you ever closed it's tray by pushing on it? Rather than hitting the eject button?

This is starting to sound laughable because of a lack of understanding against how things work.

You have to spin UHD media at a higher RPM then BD's, which means the player's optical loader has to be programed not to ramp up too quickly as well as ramp down to prevent vibration via FW. The player design also has to have enough rigidity and weight to dampen the optical loader spinning this same media at a higher RPM then BD's. Too much plastic and no metal with economy players is not helpful. Its also a good idea when dealing with a light weight player that it has to placed on a rigid surface that doesn't amplify the players vibration.

Mine is a June build. It's a low sounding vibration and only does it on a few so far. It's a nuisance, but since I got an extended warranty at BB, I'm waiting for a new one with DV to exchange it.
