How is it nepotism, if his father was not involved in the production of the series?

And like there's anything wrong with nepotism in the first place.

I was mostly kidding, but he is a somewhat known name in the industry. So him getting his kid work, who clearly can't act, kinda sucks. I'd rather the role go to someone with more talent who isn't the son of a successful actor.

edit: but I guess it's foolish to just assume his dad got him the role, or the audition even, but I imagine his dad being who he is definitely helped his situation...because it couldn't have been 100% his acting... c'mon.

Yeah but with most walks of life you'll have people who get to where they get because of who they know, not what they know. Acting's no different.

This is true. Ultimately, I just think they could have done better with that role. Although a minor role, I just found his delivery way too hammy, and it was hard to watch. I'll leave it at that.

Wasn’t that the point? His character was a hot-shot, cocky, wannabe bounty hunter. I’d expect a hammy performance from an actor.

Yeah, it's likely he was directed to act that way. Just thought it went a little over-the-top with his delivery at times.

Having just watched it I came to the same conclusion: it's supposed to be an artless type of performance from a bounty hunting noob who's totally lacking in guile (though one wonders how he wouldn't know about the Mando betraying the Guild).

It's regulation stuff this week then but I still enjoyed the ep for all the callbacks alone, I didn't spot the blaster mark on the wall of the cantina but it gave me a chuckle that droids were now running the place that didn't permit them entry before

I honestly don't have a Scooby Doo as to who it might be. I hope it's Boba Fett, having freed himself from the belly of the Sarlacc.

When he showed up and the plot started, I thought, "Oh, now we're doing Unforgiven." Wet-behind-the-ears wanna-be offering work to grizzled vet, learns the hard way what killing really means...they didn't do that at all, it turns out, but after the homage to Seven Samurai, I thought that's where Filoni and Favreau were going.

I have not read the whole thread but, my biggest question is who were the protectors of the asset from episode 1?

I have not followed any SW "canon" aside from the films(meaning I did not watch any of the animated series).

Episode 5 was completely ripping off
(I'll hit the brakes so he'll fly right by!") + the basic plot of Sergio Leone's For A Few Dollars More; two bounty hunters partner up hunting the same target and one of them have a secret agenda.

I wonder what film or tv-series episode 6 will homage in this... original Disney+ show.

Filoni's Clone Wars series...he does this sort of homage/adaptation all the time. A less-entertaining producer/director would get crucified, but he finds a way to make it work through fun. As I said above, it isn't like he's hiding it or being sneaky about it. That's his thing.

I'll have to adjust my expectations accordingly but I think this sort of stuff is fine when you have 22 or even 13 episodes per season to explore all these different types of stories - even easier in animation where you can pretty much create or show anything. But when you’re only producing eight 30-minute episodes per year, I had expected them to devote it to more exciting and original stories.

I’ll have to rethink what I’ve come to expect from live action Star Wars, as my only other reference point has been the movies.

My first thought went to the speeder bike chase in ROTJ.

Pfft, the original BATTLESTAR GALACTICA pulled that gag in 1978.
