Yes, tell me about it. I went from a $500 system to a...jeez, I don't even know...a something more system in 3 1/2 years. Crazy bastards! Is there no one here that can act as a conscience?!?! But you, Lou, now you're talking McIntosh over in your thread - you've DEFINITELY come the longest way out of all us, I think.

Yeah 2010 kept me busy - master's thesis, lot of travelling over the summer, job hunt late in the year, and then actually working - but now I'm back that I've rediscovered the joy.

...and now Lou is trying to pull me down even further on this slope I have already been on for a good 2 years, so be careful with whom you talk to. He loves to spend other peoples money.....

JJ,

If you get the Marantz amp, I second it, get it in black. Others may differ, but I like black components better than silver whenever possible. I look forward to photos once you have it in hand.

Rich, it's bought, paid for, shipped. The fella shipped it off on his way to work this morning, I've got the T# here. It is in black. So, something like this: (bad picture though)

I also prefer black components, but silver can certainly look in the right room. For example, look at THE_FORCE's room. His silver gear look great with his room decor.

BTW, JJ, screw the hungry kids... GET MORE HT GEAR!!!

It serves a purpose for myself, for when my screen is pulled down, the components can all be seen below, so having black components helps with my contrast for the picture on the screen. That is also why I have the drapes and valance as well.

Yes, I like when the black components "hide" in the shadows of the room when all the lights are out.

I must've exchanged about 10 emails with the seller just in the past 24 hours, just talking about everything from 2ch to gear to vinyl to the amp to the weather before finally going for the purchase. Nice guy, real enthusiastic about the hobby, like the rest of us. Huzzah for Audiogon.

I'm hyped to test it out too. Feb 25-27th will be a weekend near the level of construction that took place at the beginning of this thread.

I'll be the odd one out...I prefer silver...always have. However...I'll gladly take some McIntosh gear and overcome my colour preference.

Rich Teer also prefers silver. But if everyone liked the same thing, it would be a very boring world.

Nice new Av, John, just went and copyrighted it!

I think all-Ivory components would look GORGEOUS in the right home. Not mine, though.

Damn, the way I'm spending it might end up that way.

I think now I just need to tweak my settings and positioning and I'm good for the next 5 years.

I actually tweaked my setup as far as positioning just now. My steps were as follows:

1.) I made sure my cabinet was exactly under the TV
2.) Made sure both side of the cabinet was the same distance from the wall
3.) Used my builder's square ( )to make sure both speakers were the same distance from the edge of the cabinet.
4.) used same square to make sure the front of the speakers were the same distance from the front of the cabinet.
5.) While the square was in place for checking the distance from the front of the cabinet, I checked that the angle of toe-in was the same.
6.) Later this weekend of Monday, I will re-run Audyssey to make sure everything is calibrated correctly.

If you are not already, you will be there soon.

LeAnn will be holding one side of the tape ruler so you make sure everything is centered and equal distance from one another...

The SHITT1EST THOUGH!!! Hahahaha - it was our V-Day celebration, so I had to fulfill the prerequisite amount of cheesing.

When are we double-dating in Paris, though?
