Hope no one minds a flood of posts. I finished my personal Hitchcock replacements covers for the 15-disc box set and thought I would share. Criticize if you like, but my only ambition was to ditch the cardboard box. I'm sure I could have spent more time on them and there are things I will catch later that I dislike.
I have usually done poster art for the first (or first two) entries, stills for the last (or last two). The stills were an attempt to use shots or something from the movie to do something different. In some instances I like them better than the poster art, but I was usually surprised how much I liked the poster-art versions. Starting with Saboteur... ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ |

More Hitchcock covers: North By Northwest
This one may be missing some language/subtitle information. The disc is very different from the others in specs because it is owned by WB, licensed for the set. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ |

More Hitchcock covers: Psycho (what needs to be said about Psycho?)
The first two are the same poster art, but I changed the original blue design to red, since red fits Psycho a little better to me. The still custom cover I did was the first one, when I didn't like the Psycho original art much. I think it's the best of the still covers I've done. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ |

More Hitchcock covers: The Birds
I found a TCM "special screening" poster I liked well and converted that, but also used a more original poster for a second cover. Maybe some people will like one better than the other. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ Last edited by AmazingRando; 11-15-2012 at 01:34 AM. Reason: Apparently Tippi Hedren and Sienna Miller are different people. Go figure. |

Oh my God! They are ace and just what I was wanting. Thank you!
I don't suppose you had considered making similar covers for the other Hitchcock movies that are available (yes, I know... different studios) to match these? |

More Hitchcock covers: Topaz
This one was a bit of grief. Hard to find a poster that really sold the movie, even harder to find stills that looked exciting or intriguing. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ |

More Hitchcock covers: Frenzy
I liked how these turned out... for the custom still cover I used the actual title screen font, which was easier to work with than the poster art version. ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/8930460...n/photostream/ |

![]() Quote:
I had thought about making covers for the other Hitchcocks a little, but it hasn't gotten past the thinking stage yet. I'm still in awe of Nissen's Strangers on a Train cover, a little intimidated to try that one. I may work on some down the line a bit, a few days or weeks from now. In the meantime, if anybody wants to tackle something like that or make changes to the ones I've done, PM me and I'll send along the Photoshop files. If anyone's curious, the quotations and movie descriptions are directly from the Hitchcock boxset, I didn't change much of anything in the design except cover choices and choosing a photo for the back. I did make one adjustment: In the description for Psycho, I left out the spoiler for who the killer is in the movie. I'm sure almost everybody knows, but it's cool to think of someone going into that movie not knowing it. The download links are included, and I'm in the process of uploading to Euphoricfx.org as well... soon as I can figure it out. Thanks. |
