Do you have a degree in Computer Science or a similar field? Are you an expert in Boolean algebra? You have not posted a SINGLE piece of data generated by you in regards to the internet workings, internet speeds, wireless performance, video performance, etc.

You have mentioned “fantastic audio” quality several times now. Do you have a Dolby Atmos/DTS:X setup. How is your sound system calibrated? What software do you use? Do you use a calibrated microphone and SPL meter? Brands?

For many years folks have been able to easily see my background and my hardware. Sometimes I am slow to update changes in my hardware and my pictures on Facebook (way out of date).

He doesn't need no high falutin' made-up data and degrees belong on rectal thermometers.

As for audio, he listens with Sony wireless headphones, connected to his TV, according to his repeated posts and the gear listed in his signature. Hard to imagine that he would use anything wireless the way he babbles about "inferior" wireless technology. He uses no AVR at all, apparently, but he does have a blu-ray disc player to play the discs he doesn't watch, doesn't own, and doesn't buy.

"Fantastic" video and audio simply means he was pleased with what he experienced. And because he was so easily pleased, therefore that is the standard by which everything is to be judged.

Thanks for the compliment. I apparently used up all of my "Thank you" buttons yesterday in another thread. This is probably the only place on the planet that places limitations on the thanks a person can give. How dare I be so thankful!

What I find strange is the poster in question appears not to have anything wireless. I posted awhile back how folks could use apps to check their wireless speeds. That was mentioned because it is super portable and easy to do.

The screen shot is from a Samsung tablet located 3 walls and 45' from the wireless router. It shows the Link Speed as 390 Mbps. Not sure what is so difficult about understanding the capabilities of wireless. Never looked up the limitations of the Samsung tablet.

There you go with providing that there data again.

He does use wireless headphones because THAT wireless tech is flawless, "fantastic", and immune to any interference, but that can not possibly be achieved for a wireless network.

People with closed minds, due to atrophy from disuse, intellectual limitations, willful obstinance, agendas, or any combination thereof, are incapable of learning anything.

He will likely go on now for several posts about how wired networks make everything better, how his vast experience as an internet installer mythically equates to having network expertise, and when he is soundly refuted still again, he will fallback to his fail safe stance that we are all being mean to him.

From this statement of his:

"You don't have to tell me about the Internet, I set a lot of it up."

You'd think, if you did not know any better from his post history, that he was one of the key architects of the entire internet when he was really just the guy who came to your house and connected the cables.

alchav21 does more harm than good and like most here (myself included), brings nothing to the table. It doesn’t matter what format it is, if the source is bad it will reflect it. Be it cable, streaming or physical.

You could say that about most threads on this entire forum. Especially the individual movie threads.

Marvel sucks, DC rules. Nolan is great, Nolan is awful. The Last Jedi was awful, it was the best film since Empire. The Conjuring is overrated, so is Get Out, it wasn’t. Etc...

Rinse and repeat.

I might be hurt by that if I wasn't already an insensitive fill-in-the-blank. Thankfully, I am as immune to such remarks as someone else here is to factual information.

IMO, one needs to be careful when using terms like “stunning”, “fantastic”, “marvelous”, etc., when referring to picture and sound in a statement. I have a pretty fair media room from which to judge picture and sound but try to refrain because of Einstein's theory of Relativity. Some have spent more just for sound in their floating* home theaters than my house + lot cost. And Cummings Cove is not in the cheap part of the county.

*Many (most?) dubbing stages float on springs as a method to isolate sound of the outside world. Some home theaters are constructed using similar techniques. The last few issues of Widescreen Review covered this topic.

I just used a $30 promotional credit to buy 2 more movies on disc! Including a 3D title!

I got the credit due to an order that was delayed. Good start to the day when there are two almost free movies to be had!

Man, I’d really appreciate it if the digital and physical people would stop bringing out and waving their credentials around already? Do you really think it is going to change anyone’s mind at this point? Enjoy what you like and stop trying to disprove the other side in ridiculous ways.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Just wait until I start using my railroad conductor experience as proof of my expertise on Life, The Universe, and Everything! Not to worry as my advice is Mostly Harmless.

So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish, but I gotta go for now. We should do lunch sometime at The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe.

[Show spoiler]And Another Thing, I can't be helped, so don't even try.

Wonder why folks think this is a serious thread? It's just a place to babble some and present a few facts about the thread title. Don't like the post here, don't read.

For me, there is some serious threads on hardware here. In this thread and some of the hardware threads there is objective data to be shared. In most of the software threads it appears most of the post are subjective and results in a continuous back and forth. I do read a few software threads but participate very little.

Depends. I think the future of my own cinema is crucial and threats to it a big big deal.

Understand that. I know people want there concerns to be heard. My reference was relative and if I thought it had zero value I would not bother posting here.

I wonder if the view count includes non member lurkers?

From time to time I get a PM from folks that will ask: what kind of LNB do you use or can I have a copy of your CCP file for your remote or where did you get your projector lamps from or .....

You just never know who may be lurking here or elsewhere that may learn a tidbit from a post that may help them enhance their own A/V system.
