I'm guessing they are only doing the first two movies since it's basically a double bill, great for first time buyers. But oddly enough, didn't the new trilogy ignore/retcon Halloween II? In a perfect world I would trim the collection to only own the first three movies, but 4 hits so good when I need it and so does Curse and I've grown to like Resurrection (H20 still not really).

Is anyone here really restricting themselves to Halloween (1978) plus the Blumhouse trilogy for continuity? It's not like there's folk out there letting out sighs of relief "Thank goodness, I can watch more Halloween movies without having to recognize Halloween II."

I'll watch the various timelines interchangeably, but if I had to pick one timeline to watch in one sitting, I'd most likely pick the Blumhouse timeline. 2018 and Ends are two of my favourite sequels. [s]I'd swap Kills with SotW in this hypothetical scenario, though.[/s]

For me, the Laurie of 2018 definitely had to go through the hospital events of 1981 to reach that point. Please note: I'm NOT trying to restart that old debate, and I 100% understand different reactions to trauma, yadda yadda yadda... this is solely my opinion about the fictional character of Laurie Strode and what I believe to be HER particular reaction to trauma. I just happen to find it more believable she goes "crazy survivalist" the more supernatural trauma she's endured. |

![]() I don't know about that though. If Laurie had witnessed Michael burn to a crisp in the hospital and still live, then that makes her plan to catch him and roast him in 2018 a bit daft. I think seeing Jill get stabbed and finding Mr Garrett strung up (both strangers) is possibly less traumatic than all her friends being murdered a few hours before. |

I guess that kind of makes up for not being able to sit through 'H20' and 'Resurrection' like I used to. |

What's the difference between the TV cut and the extended cut on disc 3 in the Shout set? Which one is better? Does either use the mono?

Heck; I ignore all of the sequels/remakes/reboots. Of course, I was thickheaded enough to watch them all...

The television cut is a scan of the actual television cut master tape, so the new scenes are there, but language, nudity, etc. has been edited out. It does feature an alternate take of the shot when Laurie finds Lynda's body, as a result. The extended cut is Dolby Digital 5.1, while the television cut is Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono. As for which one is better, unless you wanna see the actual cuts made for broadcast, I'd go with the extended cut. It's in widescreen and has native HD parts. Only downside is they use the remixed 5.1 rather than the original mono track. |

Last year, I watched the TV cut for the first time since 1981. I was very amused that almost everything involving a knife is gone. Michael does a lot of strangling.
