Wow, even in just 720p, The Aristocats looks incredible. It's clear much effort went into restoring it. If The Rescuers looks as good as this, then I think it'll be safe to say the rumors about Disney commissioning every animated classic (up till Little Mermaid, of course) for a thorough cleanup are true. That would make The Fox and the Hound the weakest of the lot, and considering the results of that one are still pretty solid, I think we'll be okay.

Pocahontas looks expectedly excellent as will Rescuers Down Under, I'm sure. The colors do seem a tad muted to me, but it could just be because of the upload.

To be fair, from what I've seen the BD looks very clean, especially if you compare it to the old DVD

I think Pocahontas' transfer is better too. Pocahontas' hair didn't randomly change from black to red at some points. Is that supposed to happen or am I the only one who had that happen in the 10th anniversary edition?

I'm very excited to see that both The Aristocats and Pocahontas have great, clean transfers (although we already knew that Pocahontas would've one since the European releases have great transfers too). However, I'm suspicious as of why Disney included clips for all the Aug. 21st releases with the exception of The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under. The Rescuers DVD transfer is one of the worst I've ever seen and The Rescuers Down Under is not that great either. I hope Disney did a good job with both films and they should also include clips from these films so we can be at peace.

I finally got around to seeing Brave today, I went and saw it in 3D. I honestly don't know why its getting so much hate around here! Its one of my favorite Pixar movies! I definitely will be picking up the blu-ray when it comes out.

Glad you liked it! It's much better than what people are giving it credit for

Speaking of Brave, do we have any idea which covers the US blu-rays will get? I've seen two different sets for separate international releases. (Images in spoiler)

Personally I hope the US releases use the same art as the French ones, although preferrably with a different layout for the 3D blu. It just seems too... spacious. Merida is too small. I'd prefer it to be a little more zoomed in, like this:

Aristocats looks like an upscale. Too much dynamic noise reduction has been applied and it looks soft. It needs the film grain to retain the details.

Nice. Is that just a mock-up? If both the title and Merida were moved up in terms of the framing, it would be perfect. As it is, it feels bottom-heavy, due to the empty area up at the top. The framing of what I assume is the French one you posted (the one where you said Merida looked too small) actually looks pretty good in my opinion, it's pretty balanced... visually speaking. But yeah, I wouldn't mind her a bit closer to the camera, either.

I do quiet like that cover... However, I'm more inclined to the french one.. I think it's good to showcase the forest. Also there is no way the US would ever use this cover. France uses simple covers, but the US will always have extremely crowded covers to attract customers. I'm sorry.. I would have been way happier with this cover. I would also use this image as a backup

Look again, more closely. The first time I looked at the artwork I used in this cover I didn't see it either. But yeah, can't move the logo up further because then it would be covering the best part!

Now THAT is interesting. That comment you made a few pages back about "too much dynamic noise reduction has been applied and it looks soft" was spot on. It does look a lot cleaner (in a good way), but the line art has really suffered. At least the TV rip exists, I suppose.

Also interesting, the colours seem to have been muted quite a lot! Odd, considering that other releases such as Alice in Wonderland did the opposite and pumped up the brightness and contrast considerably.

The restoration looks spotless! Though the colors look more softer, it could just be the original colors from the movie. Its happened before.

Also, sad news, Lost my job on Monday and had to cancel some of my preorders. Hopefully I'll get a job by end of July so my August preorders arent in danger! Only ones are The Rescuerers Double pack and Aristocats...so I have some time but you all know the market atm.

Viva LA Disney!
