$50 is nothing. Certainly not for something as limited as this.

Exactly, I picked up a second one to trade in the future, but there's nothing else as rare as this that is only going for $50. I wish I could trade for a copy of Thor or something, but those are going for twice as much. I wouldn't be a fair trade.

I've seen it go for $29 brand new on Ebay, but to be fair, the auction ended sometime in the afternoon.

I've seen them in the $40 range. Give it a few months, and you should be able to get one for $30 - $40.

I got mine from a very nice forum member in a trade/sale combo.

With a limited, highly sought after exclusive like this, in a few months when it's even more rare, the price is likely to go up, not down.

I've been monitoring the price on Amazon & eBay. It's gone from a high of $60, to as low as $45 this past week. $40 is not far off.

But that's within a relatively short time following release. I'm not saying there won't be lower prices available from time to time, but on the whole, the further out we go, the higher the price will rise on this one.

Ha ha. I've got a feeling that won't be the case with this particular release. One can always hope though.

Not at all. I have one opened copy in my collection that I'm keeping, and that's it. I have no interest in buying up extra copies just to sell. I have too much respect for fellow collectors to do that.

I'm just basing things off having been collecting movies for a long time and a little common sense. This has many of the makings of a limited release that will go up in value. Is it a guarantee? Of course not. But for anyone who is interested in getting a copy, I wouldn't recommend waiting too long.

Yeah, the online allotment was sold out before release date, and stores were sold out by the Thursday or Friday of release week.

The movie was good, not great. It has limited re-watch value. There is a deluxe version coming out with lots of extras. I'm not Nostradamus by any means, but I would be buying puts on this.

Well, Sony might flog this as one of their "Mastered in 4K" titles.

The value of it isn't about the extras or even the re-watch value. It's about the limited SteelBook. As BRGF mentioned, it was sold out online before release day, and it sold out in many locations on release day. Add to that the fact that, up until this point, it truly is an exclusive to one store in one country. No other retailer has had this exact SteelBook, which is rare these days. Those things make it potentially more valuable than most. People who pay higher prices for SteelBooks are doing so as collectors, not as an average consumer who is taking into account the things you mentioned. Many of them will never even open it.

Is it guaranteed that the price will continue to go up? Nope. But if the value does change, all indications point to an increase in value, not a decrease. There are several things that can change that, but if someone really wants to get this release, based off currently available information they're much better off getting it now than waiting.

^ I suppose. For someone who is a casual collector or has limited funds, the current price point ($45ish) might not be realistic anyway. He or she can be patient, diligent, and maybe grab one for less later on down the road...or, maybe not.
