I really ought to stop tracking down old sony release slipcovers since it seems like sony will eventually re-release all of them with dolby vision

gonna mark my calendar next year for the mask of zorro steelbook

nah I usually hold out on buying older releases since I like the hunt for copies with slipcovers, but at this rate Im gonna end up selling them all since better versions are coming out

Well, the original release isn't going anywhere for awhile and will be dropping in price. It's also an excellent UHD so it shouldn't be hard for them to slap a DV encode on there. It could happen but I think the odds are low.

On the other hand, as I wrote earlier today on the Poltergeist thread: the spine is the most viewed surface on the case, and the font is still the original so I'd love to have a Starship-steely next to my Total Recall and Robocop steelbooks!

Yes, the only positive thing I can say about this steelbook. I actually like the MIB one. But, I care so much less about MIB than I do Starship Troopers, so of course this what we get.

Sony's steels have been consistently good from what I can recall. Why they chose NOW to blow it, I don't know. I was really hoping for something decent since I have the PopArt steel from the first release and have no idea why.

But, yeah, this isn't as bad as WB's "Lost Boys" art. Like you said, at least they have the original title logo in play. Just so weird that these studios seem to be going out of their way to dare people to buy these releases.

No. The 5.1 on the 4K is OG (technically it was SDDS 8 channel, but no home theater can replicate the extra 2 behind-the-screen channels that the format had and almost no theaters were equipped to show it that way).

No, the current UHD has already got the 5.1 along with Atmos. (Sony twigged fairly early that we actually likes OG audio, precious.) But I'm desperate for some Dobly action on this blazingly bright HDR grade and would love an improved encode on a 100GB disc too. Trouble is, I can see Sony doing an MiB and reissuing it on a 66GB disc again...but I'll take whatever improvements I can get.

I was expecting a lot worse. For one of those silly pop art covers...this one's merely meh.
Also kinda funny there's a skull motif like the Poltergeist one.
