Sometimes when I deal with content that sounds too low I even engage Dynamic Volume, or when wife is making noise in the kitchen, or when they are mowing the loan outside.
I sit about 11 or 12 feet from front speakers.
Speakers distances and db levels are left as established by Audyssey calibration, but I like to run front heights a little hotter when playing something in Dolby Atmos
Your setup sounds good and you know how to adjust settings to your liking

Thanks for the compliment but I am still learning as I go but I try to pass any info/help to people since we all pay good money for our tvs/receivers and speakers. At the end of the day when we come home and want to relax we want the best our setups can offer to enjoy what we have paid for and people have helped me so the little I know gets passed back out.

Yes I have that problem as well, we went over to my sisters and they got a new 4k tv from Samsung and its not calibrated which looks to over blown with colors washing out details and everything looking to blue but I would never rain on their parade since they like it.

I had a friend who payed a well known pro calibrator to come set up his tv and after a day or two I stopped in to check it out and he had set everything back to standard out of the box settings. He said he liked the brighter colors etc and the calibrated look was not for him. I told him when the tv is calibrated its how the director intended it to look so he says well this is how I intend it to look and he isn't watching it at my house lol.I was surprised but some people I guess are used to seeing things a certain way and don't like the natural look a calibrated set gives them.

the human eye is naturally attracted by vivd bright colors pushing blue
I must admit, when I first got into this hobby I too was thrown off by how a picture should really look in terms of brightness and colors, eve ncolor temperature. But now tha tis the only way I can watch anything
But back to Denon-related topics now, hehehe

I have a new Denon x6200w receiver. Anyone else own one, and any thoughts would be helpful. I love Atmos and the new dts decodings. New update tomorrow.

but you own it, how about your thoughts on it. the only one connected to your gear in your place is yours. do you have any initial impressions on your new receiver and congrats on your new gear!

I'd love to hear what you have to say about it as well as the thoughts of others.

how are Buddy and Kasey?

Truthfully at first, I thought that it didn't sound as good as my Integra. Then I messed around with the Audyssey settings and it sounds alot better. I'm amazed at how different Audyssey sounds on two different receivers. I watched Terminator Genesis with Atmos and it sounds incredible. Can't wait to listen to other Atmos disc's. The Last Witch Hunter is the only DTSX disc I own. I hope more come out soon. Nuraul X sounds alot better then Neo:x also.
Buddy and Kasey are doing fine, and we have one more new dog. I'll need to update my gallery in the near future. Especially since I just bought the CMV Evil Dead edition to add to my collection.

The firmware update that includes the upmixer crossover and the Pandora login fix came through last night. I got it on my X4200 at around 6:30 PM Pacific time. The upgrade took around 15 minutes and it does indeed enable the crossover and I can finally get into Pandora again. I didn't get to play around much yet but did while I was watching Westworld on HBO. I did notice that Neural:X had a bit of an increased high end than DSU so that dialogue was a tad sharper but OTOH, DSU seemed to have slightly more "oomph" to it. I suspect that which of the upmixers you choose to use will vary according to the source material. It is nice to have the option.

I'm planning on upgrading my 2313 to either a 2300W or a 3300W with the dual HDMI outputs being a point of contention. What I would like to do is run both outputs from the receiver to separate inputs on the same TV. I'll have one input configured for my movie settings and one for my game settings. I tried this on my 2313 but had HDCP handshaking issues.

Would this still be an issue with the 2300 which apparently just outputs the same signal over outputs 1 and 2?

The 3300W has 2 discrete HDMI outputs capable of sending separate signals, however I'm not sure if they would be capable of doing what I want. Anyone able to enlighten me?

I like the neural x. What is happening when it says true hd+dolby surround. Is it like PLIIZ? or an upgade of it? I'm running 9.2 with heights.

Dolby surround is the upmixer for dolby which uses your height channels/speakers.

I'm thinking of moving to a Denon from my Onkyo. I'm not a fan of the bright sound of the Onkyo when coupled with polk speakers.

Do Denon receivers sound warmer?

My Denon has several settings that deal with the bright sounds. You just have to find the one you like.

But do different AVRs have different sound signatures? I've heard that Yamaha and Onkyo sound bright while Denon sounds warm?

I'm thinking of going for the Denon X-1300w. It's rated at 80 watts per channel when driving two channels at 8 ohms, and 120 watts per channel when driving the same at 6 ohms.

My current Onkyo is rated at 100 watts per channel when driving two speakers at 8 ohms.

I have a 7.1 setup with the Polk TSI300, which are rated at 20-150 watts per channel.

Would the Denon 1300w underpower the speakers?
