I don't listen to Finebaum but every time Danny Kanell is on SVP & Rusillo they play a clip from earlier this season when Danny Kanell was on Finebaum's show and Kanell said that he didn't think Alabama looked like a #1 team. A Bama fan named Phyllis called in and hilariously tore him a new one:

Carl Pelini (Bo's brother) has resigned as coach at Florida Atlantic after a season and a half as coach. It's not known whether the resignation was voluntary or forced. Pelini was 5-15 as the FAU coach.

Edit: There may be more to the story. Apparently nobody in the FAU athletic department is answering their phones, and police were spotted at the facility this morning.

So this is apparently what caused Pelini's resignation:

Quote:
Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN
Source told @ESPN Carl Pelini & DC Pete Rekstis resign at FAU. They attended recent social event where pot was used & agreed to resign

The 5-15 probably had more to do with it. That just gave them another reason.

Ya, stupid that such a minor thing is illegal. But still poor judgment as he knew the consequences.

Ya, but even Howard Schnellenberger couldn't make FAU successful. He was 58-74 as FAU head coach, including a 1-11 record his final season.

If USCjr can be a winning program then anyone can be a winning program.

FAU has everything that's needed to be a good program, they just need a good coach to make them successful. FAU is a large school with a brand new stadium and a great location. I think they should hire Mario Cristobal. He turned Florida International into a winner (before their terrible AD fired him for no reason) and he's a great recruiter in south Florida.

Blowing teams out will only help FSU in the human polls and very little if that, margin of victory is no longer a factor in the computer polls/BCS.

Plan and simple, FSU needs Oregon or Bama to lose.

Ex-Stanford OT Martin leaves Dolphins because of bullying from teammates:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/j...ammates-103113

Quote:
MIAMI GARDENS, FLA.
Miami Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin loves playing football.

But what a source told FOX Sports was an abusive environment that developed during Martin's 1 1/2 seasons with the Dolphins led to him taking a personal leave of absence to spend time with his family.

Martin left Dolphins headquarters on Monday when finally reaching his limit with the persistent bullying and teasing from some teammates that has plagued him since joining Miami as a 2012 second-round draft choice. As first reported by FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, the latest taunt – a group of players stood up and left when he tried joining them for lunch – led to Martin getting up himself and walking out the door.

There is no timetable for a return, which could lead Miami to ultimately place him on the reserve/non-football injury list. It also raises questions about his future with the franchise.

This wasn't an abrupt action by Martin, who is Stanford-educated and the son of two lawyers who attended Harvard University. A source said Martin has tried dealing with a slew of indignities that crossed into personal and family insults, including being bestowed with the nickname of "Big Weirdo."

Knowing his background, the 6-foot-5, 312-pound Martin probably felt that challenging teammates to fistfights wasn't the answer to the situation.

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin refused to provide any details about Martin's absence when asked by the media earlier this week. Miami downgraded Martin from "doubtful" to "out" for Thursday night's home game against Cincinnati after listing him on their injury report as having an illness.

It's believed the Dolphins were aware that the cruel actions of some teammates toward Martin went well beyond the customary hazing sometimes given to NFL rookies and youngsters, the source said. Martin experienced some of that when the Dolphins appeared on the 2012 season of HBO's Hard Knocks.

The Dolphins declined comment to FOX Sports on Thursday night about whether they were aware of the bullying issue allegedly surrounding Martin.

Veteran players also apparently failed to help support Martin and draw a line as to where the bullying should end.

As a result, a Dolphins offensive line that leads the NFL in sacks allowed (32 through seven games) was without one of its best players against a strong Bengals pass rush. The recently-benched Tyson Clabo started at right tackle in place of Martin, who was shifted from left tackle after Miami acquired Bryant McKinnie in a trade with Baltimore.

The NFL Players Association is monitoring the situation and has made inquiries into determining what has happened with Martin, a source told FOX Sports.
Some things never change. I played the game in HS over 30 years ago. Football is still ruled by neanderthal players who have the maturity level of a middle schooler.

Jonathan Martin: 'Don't believe everything you read'
By Will Brinson | NFL Writer
November 1, 2013 9:36 am ET

Jonathan Martin was a no-show for the Dolphins game on Thursday night -- a stunning 22-20 Miami win that actually saw them pass protect well -- and he's reportedly AWOL because of being bullied in the lunch room.

Martin received support from teammates after the game, but before the game Martin wrote on his Facebook page, PFT reported Thursday, that you shouldn't "believe everything you read."

"Happy Halloween!" Martin said. "Don't believe everything you read."

Martin also added that "Opinions are like *******s, everyone has one."

The opinions of Martin's teammates probably interest him, given that they had positive things to say about him. Even Tyson Clabo, who got to keep his job because of Martin's disappearance, pointed out that the Dolphins "care" about Martin and "want him to come back to work."

"Obviously, we care about J-Mart a lot; we just want him to be all right," Clabo said. "I want him to come back to work. He's a talented, young football player. I can't say what he's feeling. But I know if and when he wants to come back, I will be there to shake his hand."

The man Martin blocks for, Miami running back Lamar Miller, said Martin's absence wasn't impacting the team.

"He just had some things going on," he said. "But as a team, we just continued to stay focused."

Miller's opinion wasn't even as vague as coach Joe Philbin, who said after the Dolphins' win that Martin was excused with a "non-football illness" and that he didn't care to comment further.

"What I'd like to say in regards to Jonathan, any player with an injury or illness, our concern is for the health of the individual," Philbin said. "In respect to Jonathan, he's been excused with a non-football illness. Our concern and support are with him. That's all I'm going to say."

It's a bizarre situation to say the least.

But it's one that would be much worse -- and much more in focus -- if the Dolphins hadn't managed to steal a win from the Bengals on Thursday night.
It sounds like Martin is dealing with some mental health issues.

I'm so ready for tonight, today is going to drag by so slowly. I'm going to go out and do some yardwork this morning to hopefully pass the time quickly. There aren't really any good games on at noon today, but Michigan/Michigan State is usually a good game, and that's starts at 3:30. Let's go 'Canes!!!! I'm, fired up, man, I'm fired up!

It's All About The U, baby!

emac213, good luck my friend.
