Just curious if everyone is receiving shipping notifications for their orders.
I placed an order on December 1st and have not heard anything. I have an order ID number from when I placed the order. In light of the current situation, I don't mind waiting. Currently, their website is down for maintenance. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

USPS tracking number was also emailed from PayPal. It shows it's due for delivery on Wednesday the 23rd, but with the way the mail service is right now I kinda doubt that'll happen. Literally all my USPS shipments right now are running late. |

"You Axed for It" was a popular column in the magazine, at least by the 60's. Ackerman was always a big user of puns, so it fits that he used it first. Who knows what Dave was referencing, but Ackerman beats The Mentors by at least a decade. |

PS: I mistakenly said that that original run of "FM" ended in 1992, it actually ended in 1983. (I still have every issue).
For those who don't know, "FM" was pretty much the ONLY magazine directed towards monsters/horror/sci-fi films, outside of a few others like "Castle of Frankenstein" that were way less circulated and very erratic release schedule, and FM was the only one that was circulated to most newsstands and magazine racks. Cinefantastique magazine started in the early 70's, but was pretty hard to find back then ( the Dark Ages before the internet). But I think it was Fangoria starting in 1979, and finally hitting its horror stride a couple years later, and with better distribution, that finally killed off the original "FM". Ackerman went on to some other enterprises and mags (and a long-running lawsuit), and although some success in the lawsuit, it didn't end all that great for him in the big picture. But he was the man who started the horror film magazine genre, when there was NOTHING out there for kids or other fans of these type films. He was the ultimate fan before anyone knew there was a fanbase for these types of films. RIP. |

Famous Monsters was a very important magazine and is often sited by movie directors and writers for influencing them to become filmmakers etc. When I was growing up, Famous Monsters, was almost all there was for someone who enjoyed genre films. Fangoria came at the right time to enjoy the new horror boom of the 80s which at the time was also groundbreaking for their full coverage of special makeup effects. I almost forgot to mention the classic ultracolorful FM covers by Basil Gogos and his original cover art is now collected by rich rock stars like Kirk Hammet and others. |

Filing a missing package claim probably won't do any good right now, as they've been getting many of them from the other people with late packages. I foolishly sent one a few weeks ago before late packages became a norm and just got a standard response that my package was in transit. |

Your package is likely at the bottom of one of these bins somewhere. A missing package claim isn't going to make someone go dig it out for you. This isn't a couple of months ago anymore. [Show spoiler]

I'm not posting here to troll. This particular package was already "attempted" a week ago. They claim nobody was around to accept it, and they're probably right because it was a Sunday and it's a commercial address. So where is it? Certainly not at the bottom of a huge pile at a warehouse. Someone threw it into a bin at their station and there it has sat unnoticed for more than a week. Maybe if I file a claim it'll get noticed? |

I shipped 2 items first class in typical 10x6 yellow padded envelope, one on dec 7th and one on dec 9th, and both of them sat there in the local PO until dec 20th before the sorting center scanned them (the 12/7 one actually had no scans at all prior to 12/20 despite being dropped off on 12/7) I also ordered some stuff from eBay, again smallish first class packages around the same time and same thing happened , sat at the post office for 1.5 weeks and finally scanned on the 19th-20th Not sure what is going on but USPS is doing worst I've seen in my lifetime with small first class packages shipping time right now. Strangely, a larger priority mail and media mail package I shipped processed relatively normally. Last edited by Ruined; 12-21-2020 at 06:35 PM. |

Still though, it wouldn't surprise me if USPS is mostly ignoring any lost packages claims at the moment simply because they are so backed up. Might be better to wait one more week just to let things clear up a little more. |
