Criterion posted a photo of them remastering a movie on Facebook and according to people who saw the image:

It's "The Sweet Smell of Success".

got my copy of "The Leopard" today from Criterion.
gotta admit I'm not thrilled with the cardboard or the pic of the obese woman on the spine.
I mean yuck!
what could they possibly have been thinking?
I will never understand why they have done this when "Che" in a sleeve with two plastic cases.
"Monterey" is double plastic cases.
so WHY?? go BACK to cardboard??
so why can't Criterion just settle on plastic cases and be done with it?
If they need to create a "new" plastic case for a titles like "The Leopard" then great--please do.
but just STOP with the going back and forth.
It's driving me crazy!
other than that somewhat ocd info, I'm super excited to check out this amazing masterpiece on bd.
as far as "Sweet Smell of Success"--that sounds like great news!
looks like the MGM raiding is going well.
how bout Houston's "Moby Dick"?
a very deserving choice imo of a stone cold classic so far banished forever to a god awful MGM dvd.

I bought a boatload from this guy few months back. Kinda scared to see what he's auctioning. My bank account can't handle that right now especially with the B&N sale coming up.

Holy moley! I just mentioned Sweet Smell of Success about 20 pages ago as one I wished Criterion would pick up. Is it wrong to love a movie more than a woman?

Guess what was waiting for me in the mail when I got home? Mystery Train! Only took SIXTEEN days from shipping date to get here from DD. They must have routed it through Antarctica.

Criterion has always had multiple kinds of cases...since the beginning!! Quit complaining about it! Just be glad that they are pumping out such a high volume of high quality stuff! It's about the films, not the F*&(%ing cases!!

scorse--very happy with the quality and consistency of Criterion's releases thank you very much.
I have bought almost every one and have over 150 of their dvds.
If I want to give my opinion regarding their product I will.
god forbid someone give an opinion around here that doesn't always bow down in complete reverence to the mighty bd god Criterion.
sorry, but I don't like the packaging of "The Leopard"--
deal with it.

sorry, but I don't like the packaging of "The Leopard"--
at all.
deal with it.
I prefer the clear cases myself. But if The Leopard case is similar to By Brakhage I can deal with it. The By Brakhage packaging turned out much better than I expected.

The UK version is cheap from time to time, and supposedly may be a bit more English-friendly with its subtitles (I really couldn't tell, they seemed to miss some stuff from time to time, but under the circumstances...).

Wow that old Criterion DVD was a mess. Thankfully the Blu-Ray is solid like usual

Other than one thing.... the hell is that on her face?

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film3/blu-r...ay_wrikles.jpg

It doesn't show up on any of the DVD caps or the other Blu-Ray cap.

Sorry, but I received a private message quite a while back about my over-enthusiastic link posting to other sites. So, I no longer do it.

Personally I don't like the oddly sized case either. I don't mind the alternate boxes but I don't understand why they can't be sized accordingly to match the other cases.
