Several times in the past few months I’ve done this after a package got stuck somewhere (no movement for more than a week) and each time it miraculously showed up a few days later.

Already done it. Got a canned response about Covid, staff shortages, yada yada yada. I may have to take a loss here.

Watch it pop up in a couple of days. Most of the items I've filed a missing mail report on miraculously popped up within a few days; coincidence? A few however, seemed to have either been actually lost or are sitting in a bin somewhere and will eventually show up sometime in 2022.

It will come at some point in the next month. I have two first class packages I sent out the first & second week of December that are still in progress of delivery. One of them sat at one facility 10 miles from my house for over 2 weeks before moving anywhere, and neither one has been delivered yet.

My friend talked to a postmaster of a major hub and they have massive numbers of undelivered packages just sitting in bins in the sorting centers

It will show up, just have to give some time. Covid has slowed a lot down with the mail. We have had many that have taken a lot longer than usual but virtually none that never showed up. Unfortunately the mail is very erratic and can be delayed. We had a first class envelope from MVD take almost 3 weeks and it finally showed up.

Yeah, I've had several Priority Mail packages take 2-3 weeks to get here recently. It doesn't seem to matter if things are shipped via Media Mail or 1st Class/Priority right now. I still have one package that shipped before Thanksgiving and shows no progress for weeks until a few days ago.

Things will arrive, they're just often literally taking forever right now.

Interestingly all of the packages I've shipped or received VERY late have been smallish (10"x6"x1") while larger oackages were delivered more timely. I suppose having thousands of small packages/envelopes sitting in bins takes up a lot less space at sorting facility than large packages. Seems like they targeted those types on purpose. I even had a media mail one that beat the first class ones by a couple of weeks but again it was a large package

One thing is certain, if the USPS is still performing abysmally by February and long delays are still rampant, we'll know for sure they're FOS. I understand there are covid restrictions everywhere but no agency can be THAT slow for such a prolonged period.

A local USPS driver was caught dumping packages in the woods by a suspicous police officer back in November. The driver claimed he was discarding his feces but upon inspection it was undelivered packages I have a feeling many of our packages are strewn throughout the woods of New Jersey.

The last couple weeks I've been buying more from Amazon than usual because of USPS' issues. I may be paying a couple dollars more per disc, but I get Prime delivery in 2 days to one of those Amazon lockers a mile from my house....stress free.

You’re correct, it was an Amazon driver. I was mixing it up with a USPS driver who was recorded dumping bins of mail in the woods somewhere around Atlanta a few years ago.

My order shipped on Dec 17th and finally got delivered yesterday - I live a 2 minute walk from the post office that DF drops off at (have spotted Dave there a few times.) Who knows how it ended up in North Carolina when it shouldn't have even left Los Angeles County, but it arrived eventually. USPS is just a mess right now.
