Default Back to the Future Part III - Is it really that bad?

I went to a bunch of my friends on facebook today asking them to rank and rate all of the Back to the Future films and every one of them rated the third film incredibly low (and ranked it the lowest) and told me the film is horrible/garbage and not to watch it. And I went to five people and they all gave me similar responses. I saw it when I was little and have barely any memory of it. Is it really that bad? I was going to watch it today, but now I am having second thoughst and might just watch something better instead.

it's the weakest out of the 3 but by a slim margin......i enjoy all 3 though.

it's worth your while to check out at least.

I agree. I like the third due to the Western nature of it.

WTF, it's set in the wild west and has a cameo by ZZ Top, what is there not to love?! Here's my ranking of the BTTF's

1) BTTF
2) BTTF III
3) BTTF II

Back to the Future is my favorite movie. The second and third are very entertaining as well. I've never understand all the hate for the third to be honest...It's just as good as the other two. People used to talk down about it all the time back in high school and middle school and I always found myself being the only one who ever defended it. I actually like it more then the second, I like how much lighter it is then the second. It feels more like the first movie to me

Back to the Future Part III has been an underrated film ever since it came out. Don't listen to your friends, it's a good movie.

Not the best of the 3, but still worth watching IMO.

I enjoyed all of the movies, the first was definitely the best of all. The third is easily the 2nd best, at least in my opinion. The second, I did enjoy though.

Back to the Future III is more of a romantic comedy about Doc Brown. Also, Marty McFly finally "learning" his lesson about not reacting when about being called ckicken.
I liked it!

I like them all equally, practically as one giant three-part movie.

I think each one got progressivly orse. That bieng said even the third one is alot of fun, it just doesn't compete with how much fun the first film is.

Part III has always been my least favorite. I saw it opening day when I was 12 and even at that age I was distracted by several gaping plotholes:

1) If the younger Doc in 1955 found out he got shot by Buford "Don't Call Me Mad Dog" Tannen 30 years later, why would the older Doc be clueless about it once Marty went back to 1885 to rescue him?

2) Why does Maggie McFly who has no genetic link to the Baines family look like Lorraine?

3) Why does Doc spend the entire first two films ranting about how it's too dangerous to know too much about one's future and making any changes could destroy the entire space-time continuum only to basically tell Marty and Jennifer to ignore all that in the final scene of the third movie?

4) How did no one in Hill Valley suspect Doc(and "Clint Eastwood") of hijacking the train? Doc said out loud in the bar with everyone listening that that's where they were headed. So after commandeering and destroying that train, he just waltzes back into town and nobody says a word?

And there are other aspects of the film that bugged me. Like the love story with Doc and Clara. That was pretty cheesy. Ultimately what makes it somewhat enjoyable is the chemistry between Fox and Lloyd, the always entertaining Tom Wilson, the epic train sequence, and the fact that it does successfully(plotholes notwithstanding) wrap up the trilogy.
