Sorry to hear another victim to the firmware issue... If you have a Samsung plan on issues after issues, if you read the entire thread you'll see what we've been through..

I replaced my Samsung (in Signiture) until a firmware update, but it could be a week, month, ???

If you can return it & this bugs you that much, go for it.. I felt bad returning my movies only to find out they were fine!

All we can do is hang in there..

Hey has anyone else watched their new Cars 2 3D Bluray yet? And if so did you have any glitches where it would pause briefly and then start right backup?

Please let me know if you had any issues.
Thanks,
TJ
I too suffered glitches on the US release(as you may have guessed I live in the UK) and each time I watched it it got progressively worse. It got so bad I had to send it back and ask for a refund. The company I purchased it from were very good to me; not only have they refunded me the purchase price they also paid me the postage needed for its return.

I purchased the UK edition when it came out(yesterday) and watched it straight away. Suprise, suprise, it too has glitches(though not as many as the US release). But unless it gets worse I wont be returning it as the glitches on my new copy I can live with. Still, if it does get worse, I'll let you know.

More as and when I get it.

John.

Default Don't bother with outsourced tech support, go straight to the top...

Not sure if it will help us get updated Blu Ray player firmware or not, but I called the headquarters in NJ and left a message in the voicemail box of Mr Yangkyu Kim. President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America.

:-)

The number you can reach him at is 1 (201) 229-4000, when it asks you if you'd like to search for someones mailbox via their name, hit the 8 key and then put in 546. This will give you a listing of the various KIMs in the company. Mr Yangkyu is number 4 or 5 on the list. Please be respectful if you decide to leave a message. Thank you and have a good day.

Thank you, I called & was extremely polite, gave the model numbers, problems, solutions the community had tried, # of attempts to get this resolved personally with Samsung Customer service. The "explanations" given to us. & lastly where he can find this exact thread to see the troubles were having. I did add I had to run out & buy a Panasonic to play the same disks...

I hope this works & He helps light a fire under the programmers... Like I said, the customer service is great, its just like nobody's really doing anything?

Yup! I'm still using the Panasonic I have in my Signature. I went ahead & just removed the Samsung & it's used to play Blu's in another room.

I ran it this Saturday on my 150" screen & checked for a firmware update. NOTHING!

Totally unacceptable from Samsung IMO.... I'm just thankful it works in other players. I can't believe I overlooked the formats the sammy plays VS. the competition. Only being able to play BD-ROMs is the only factor I can think that Samsung hasn't been able to overcome..

Most all other players can play BD-ROM, BDRW, BD-blah blah blah.... It just can't read the cars 2 3D, has big issues w/ 2d & it's like a disease that spread to the Toy Story Disks 3D. Now it's used as a standard Blu-ray player. If they ever fix the firmware I might cheer up. But it's been long enough for me to feel like I've been blown off! I like Samsung, just the TVs now! I've lost faith in their Blu-ray players...

The PS3 plays it fine, I've watched it on my PS3 and it was awesome! No problems at all, and it is a beautiful movie in 3D.

X2 PS3 is fine, just make rue the firmware is up to date. A few people had issues with Oppo & Panny but after updating firmware were fine!

Samsung is the only brand I've noticed w/ consistent issues!

After a quick look through on some typical bad spots in Cars 2, it appears the update has fixed the issues with my Samsung BD-D5500 player

Default Wow...

Ok guys...I'm so sorry for crying wolf. There is an update out, but Cars 2 STILL doesn't work after attempting to watch it all the way through.

I only had time earlier to do a quick run through of a few troubled spots I remembered. Those problems have gone away but now I have a whole new set of looping issues including staggering play (what you get with a scratched disc). My disc isn't dirty. For me, this first starts during Mater's first scene when he sees lightning McQueen for the first time in the movie. I'm too ticked off to play it any further and find other troubled spots.

I think I just need to take a bat to this player and send all of the parts to Samsung's CEO. Why in the hell would they not fix this?

I'm not a Samsung fan based on my past experiences. That's a bummer the disc doesn't work right on the display.

Vizio Theater 3D with movie theater Real D glasses, zero problems and great 3D display. Same with Sony Bravia 3D with active 3D glasses, no issues other than new batteries after 100 hours.

Cars 2 had very nice 3D, but it couldn't save the lackluster story and characters, and I was a fan of Cars 1, which was generally good, but a bit slow in pacing.

The most disappointing thing about Cars 2? Every time I thought we were about to see some great racing action, Tow Mater's story line cuts right in and ruins the action. Very disappointing. Reminds me of Blade Trinity, when they kept interrupting Blade's fights with the Night Stalkers' fights... Very disappointing.

It wasn't all bad, and some people may enjoy it. I'll pass on Cars 2 even in 3D. All opinions of course.

UHG! figures & I don't blame you a bit! I'd have jumped on & yelled Firmware Update too! I'm sorry this is ruining you on Cars 2. It's actually a lot of fun when you can actually watch it! I'm beginning to think Samsung can't fix the issue. They've had plenty of notice & time. I revert back to my previous post: Samsungs are made to play BD-ROM only. I wonder if it thinks Cars 2 is another format? Either way, thumbs down for my Sammy Player!

& Samsung for its reliability & "Techs" being unable to fix an issue every other manufacturerer has! In the end I don't care what the issue is, I bought a 3D Blu-ray player to watch 3D Blu-rays, not be moved to another room for 2D!

Sorry you are having these problems. I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT100 for sale if you're interested. It came bundled with my tv but it is still in the box and never been opened.

I updated my firmware last night and sure enough my Cars 2 is still acting the same. It keeps looping the same scene over and over again. However the firmware was able to fix my HP-DH1 & HP-DH2 issue. Before my player would just say loading and it would just stay on the 00:00:00 mark on my system. Now it plays like a charm and it loads fast. They still need to fix this Cars 2 3D issue.

Sounds like you may have a bad disc. Any chance of you contacting the seller to see if an exchange can be made? If you got it from BB or Amazon, there shouldn't be an issue at all.

Personally, I've not experienced any issues when watching this in 3D. I've not checked it out on 2D, but for 3D it works very well for me.

He doesn't have a bad disk, nor do I. I returned & got a second, then went to another BestBuy & opened & tested one at the HT department on a Samsung BD-D6500. Others here have exchanged their disks for nothing! It's Samsungs issue, they have admitted there's a problem, are aware of it, & it's a top priority....

I haven't heard from one reason who has a Samsung player that's has no issues! My BestBuy even stopped accepting returns for Cars2 (after asking/confirming you have a Samsung) they just take you to the Back HT section & show how it works on other models & not Samsung! Whether Samsung likes it or not my BB alo now warns people about the Samsung players having playback issues. They'll even show people if they ask! It's stopped a lot of returns....

Sadly this will catch up. I still can't play 2 of 3 Toy story's w/o problems either? Especially the 3rd (same looping as cars2).
