That's an interesting way for Goldschmidt to spin it. In reality, he's burned his bridges with the major studios so they don't want anything to do with him. If he acted in a more professional manner, I would imagine they might consider working with him. Instead he writes one star reviews on Amazon of their releases well before they've even been released, all because they didn't consult him. He really only has himself to blame for the major studios ignoring him.

I attended a show in person and Rick Goldschmidt did a Q/A after showing the movie. He did not recommend thde US Bluray because it was an older transfer and money grab.

He did recommend the Anchor Bay DVD.

Don't doubt it. But understandable. He is very passionate about Rankin/Bass.

One time he explained how a major studio wanted to make a music video with a celebrity singer for a Rankin/Bass film. To appeal to a younger audience. He turned them down because it doesn't fit with Rankin/Bass.

They wanted to do what Disney has done in the past with releasing a new music video including clips from a new movie with a rock or hiphop celebrity to appeal to a younger audience.

Not sure why he slipped that in there. He was very adamant about the restored DVD with the booklet he wrote and slammed the Bluray for using an older transfer over the cleaned up one.

I have both. While I value the integrity of preserving older transfers I felt tye corrected one should have been on the Bluray.

Here's hoping the Unbrella copy is a new master overall and not just a new master in Australia.

Rick may be an ass in public but his passion for Mad Monster Party and Rankin/Bass makes up for it.

His books are to die for and full of wealth of info and artifacts many books do not have.

If I recall his Mad Monster Party book contained the comic book and so much more. Its like reading a Disney book about Mickey or the Silly Symphonies.

I emailed Umbrella about the release date for this...

They said they will ship towards the end of May.

So for us Americans maybe we'll get it in June?

American here. Loved the new Bluray release and audio commentary. He literally says the asame stuff in his convention q&as so thats great to listen to it over and over. Sadly he looks and sounds like he had a stroke.

Love the pins, comic poster stickers and slipcover.

It's on the main menu page all the way to the left; I think it highlights a picture of one of the skeletons from the band that sings "The Mummy" song. This is a great release.
