This 5-disc set stars Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Wil Wheaton, and introduces to the cast both Whoopi Goldberg as "Guinan" and Diana Muldaur as "Dr. Pulaski." Also, "Chief O'Brien" (Colm Meaney) becomes a regularly recurring character during this season. This is also the season where The Borg are first introduced to the Trek universe.

Guest stars include Billy Campbell, Joe Piscopo, Teri Hatcher, William Morgan Sheppard, Suzie Plakson, Chris Latta, Brian Thompson, Mädchen Amick, Carolyn Seymour, Noble Willingham, John Tesh, Nikki Cox, John de Lancie, Robert Costanzo, Majel Barrett, Carel Struycken, Mick Fleetwood, Lance LeGault, Anne Ramsay, and Armin Shimerman. This season, shortened due to a strike in Hollywood, only came to 22 episodes (the final one consisting mostly of clips from earlier episodes). Still, it contained a number of fan-favorite episodes such as "Elementary, Dear Data," "The Measure of a Man" and "The Emissary." As there was with the first season set, the studio plans to hold a theatrical screening event in December promoting the Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 2 Blu-ray Disc release (details are forthcoming).

Cost is $129.99 SRP. Here's a list of included bonus material (which consists of both extras from previous DVD release of this title, plus new items produced for this Blu-ray version), followed by the packaging and a pre-order link:
Promos

Nice list of features! Glad there is another gag reel. I don't recall seeing any bloopers from this season on YouTube. Plus we finally have audio commentaries for TNG.

I was hoping for a bonus feature detailing the re-checking of discs and replacement program for season one

Awesome! Can't wait for it!

Also, it mentions that there's over 120 mins of new documentaries, but in that list I can only see two HD Docos. Does that indicate that the 'Making It So' Doco will be 90-ish mins (like the Stardate Revisited one), and the Reunification interview thing will be 30? I'd be very happy with that

No kidding. Hopefully the price comes down to the same price as Season 1, or cheaper since Season 2 has fewer episodes (due to the writer's strike that season).

Turns out, according to TrekCore it's Rob Bowman (the director) not Don Berman -- which is a relief, as I still have no fricking clue who Don Berman was supposed to be!

Place your bets now on how many authoring errors (etc) that this set will have.

I may be in the minority, but I loved season 2, even more so than later seasons. I consider season 7 to be among the worst. So many boring episodes like the love stories for Deanna and Beverly, and the one where Data is wearing different masks.

Yet season 2 gave us the Borg, the excellent episode where Riker lives aboard a Klingon ship, deadly encounters with powerful beings, Data on trial, and more. I guess I like more the action, and plot based episodes instead of the character building ones.

'Masks' is truly bizarre, but Brent Spiner scared the sh*t out of me in that episode when I was a kid. 'Genesis' and 'Eye of the Beholder' I also found pretty scary... but yes, season 7 was not the best. Not sure I'd put it as low as seasons 1 and 2, but that's the great thing about these releases, it's giving me the chance to watch every episode in order and judge the seasons in a way I never did when watching old TV recordings and repeats as a kid

I really like Season 7.
I know it has some stinkers but I love "Gambit", "Prallels", "The Pegasus", "Journey's End", "Lower Decks", "Genesis" and "All Good Things..."

The problem with season 7 was what was referred to as "Too Much Trek" syndrome at the time, which explains the uneven quality of writing, lighting, etc. DS9 had just gotten off the ground and many of the better crew members had gone to work on that show. Also, filming for Generations was going on, which just added to the overload.

My 2 cents for the season 2 release-it's not worth $91, but I'm sure because of the release timing (and Best Buy's financial woes) the real street price will drop quite a bit from that figure.

I heard it might have been Gene R himself. He was known to like the ladies.

"Parallels"

And (no offense) but I despise Gambit. The Federation flagship's captain is going undercover to stop thieves and the now CAPTAIN of the Enterprise (since Picard is "dead") beams down and is conveniently captured.

Just bad bad TREK.

People love to blame Berman but to me TREK began going downhill when Jeri Taylor was hired and subsequently promoted.

I only ever had seasons 1&7 on DVD. Season 7 is one of my favorites.

As for the "Riker Tuck" I think mlady referred to that as the point where they started messing with the costumes lol.

Some interesting things from Berman about all of the shows, the McFadden/Hurley bit is mentioned:
