I'm assuming the VHS source is only being used for the Cabal Cut footage. Everything from Nightbreed will be film sourced, which still accounts for the majority of the running time.

I asked on the Occupy Midian Facebook page about the theatrical cut being included, and they said it's in the plan to include an HD version of the theatrical cut, how the cut footage will play with in is anybody's guess.

Contrary to what you say though from what I hear, the deleted footage amounts to like an hour give or take which would almost be as long as the film itself.

Yeah you're right, I guess the cut footage amounts to almost half. However they decide to approach the transfer, it is inevitably going to make for a less than ideal presentation. Option A is to splice in the cut footage, which is incredibly distracting, especially when it amounts to so much screen time. Or they can source the whole film from VHS which will make for a cohesive presentation, but completely defeats the purpose blu ray. I hope they go with A, but either way we should just be grateful for the chance to finally see Barker's vision in any format. Hopefully people won't complain too much...

Who saw this movie in theaters? i did when i was 8 about 3 times and me and my big brother dug it! i thought it was a fantastic mix of supernatural horror and dark fantasy combined thanks to the imagination of Clive Barker.

I even had the comics as a kid.

I've never seen this film (I have been waiting for this illustrious Blu-ray), but if (and I mean if) film elements exist for The Cabal Cut, then surely someone in the production can pony up the dough to get access to them? It would be very frustrating to know that a major portion of the intended film will always look unpleasant because of monetary issues, and surely Barker has enough money to salvage his own film? Otherwise, I can't think why Morgan Creek would sit on the film elements if they existed, and I wouldn't be able to understand charging Barker an exorbitant amount, given that he would actually be providing the studio a service with his own money.

I don't think it's an issue of them not wanting to do it, I think it's an issue of not finding it financially responsible to spend probably millions to restore a film with a very niche/cult following. Unfortunately this won't have an interest of something like "The Wizard of Oz" or "The Goonies".

It's official now. Per ShockTillYouDropNews (via Twitter)

Scream Factory is going to restore and release Clive Barker's NIGHTBREED: CABAL CUT on Blu-ray. Deal closed on that TODAY
Obviously it's not happening in '13.

No they don't (unfortunately). The Cabal Cut is a different film altogether.

EDIT: I should probably point this out, Shout! DOES have a deal with Warner but it's only with their TV programs.

Shock Till You Drop seems to think Morgan Creel will be allowing Cliff & Co. in to their faults to find the film elements. I'm sure Cliff will chime in when he feels like it.
