If you were trying to catch up on Pixar, Disney and the Ghibli releases, doing the Disney Movie Club is a pretty economical way of doing that.

That's likely going to be the last Blu-Ray release. Which is a bummer, but at least there's some rhyme and reason to what they're doing. It'll likely be a 2015 release, maybe end of 2014. They're going through the older titles first. Well, that and releasing everything since Ponyo on a normal release schedule.

Here's my thing, I keep heaing about the rights tie up for Princess Mononoke, and how Disney would never sell it themselves, but the movie is included in their Disney Movie Club. I'm hoping during some time next year, all the lincensing issues finally get resolved.

isn't that much younger than the others?

I think that's correct. The Wind is Rising for sure since that's coming out this summer (in Japan), and then one more.

Touché. Ok...well...yeah, I now have no idea. The only thing I keep hearing is that the release schedule is ruled by when the movies come out in Japan. They follow with a release here about a year later. I still think they'll release Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke before they do Spirited Away, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Kiki has been released in Japan, so that's the next US release, Porco it's scheduled to release in Japan, so we might get it with Kiki in 2014.
There's no announcement on Mononoke or Srited Away, so we can assume will be in 2015 or later in US.

Sweet. I love Kiki's. (though that doesn't say much since I love pretty much all of the Ghibli canon)

I haven't received my order yet, but from what I know there's no custom fees on small items like this, unless you order multiple of the same item or something with high value, like $1000 and up.


UPDATE: No customs charge. Ordered Friday night, received Wednesday morning. Amazing DHL.

I gave my old DVD copy away when I heard about the blurays. I think some of the lines are a bit different from memory. One thing I'm sure of is that the lyrics to the end song aren't translated... They were on my old copy. It was nice to have them, but the lyrics are easy to google.

Disney didn't even add new previews to the Blu-ray they just recycled the 2006 previews.

Gave this another spin today. Perhaps Miyazaki's most visually stunning movie, plus it is the sort of fairy tale that I love.

I enjoyed watching the characters eat their bacon and eggs in this one. It is so cozy.
