I own the Region 4 (Australia) DVD of Hard Target.
- Which is the European/International cut or sometimes referred to as the unrated edition
- This cut has a roughly 3-4 extra minutes included.
- Run time is listed as 1 hour and 35 minutes (PAL).

3 additional minutes is nothing substantial but all the additional extended cuts are in workprint format. Yes, even the director's cut which is technically a sneak preview aka screener.

There's a lot of discussion and confusion about the different cuts of this movie online. It gets really confusing. IMDB does not even include the Euro cut under Technical Spec yet ironically they include the Director's cut and Workprint editions, which are available only as bootlegs.

Excuse the babbling. The gist is there is no official Director's Cut and the International Cut is what I consider the definite release.

Great list from the Great Dane. Mange takk!

Turns out I am missing just two from that list, so I might as well get them too. You're costing me money here M!

BTW, VanDamme's part in UFO amounts to a bit more than a cameo IMO. About the same as Dragon Eyes, I'd say.

Great, which ones did you miss?

And if you also want Breakin' for his 2-minute dance in the background, it's been released in Germany :P

I haven't seen UFO yet, but was led to believe he only had a scene in it? If it's more, I'll be happy to include UFO on the list

Was thinking about highlighting the best version from each movie, to know which one to pick up.
Also thinking of compiling such a list for Jackie Chan, but that would take a day or two.

Desert Heat from Germany and Second In Command from the US.

I can't really recommend UFO as a VanDamme film, but as a low-budget sci-fi flick it gets the job done. VanDamme has a big role in the third act, but they were smart not to market this as a "VanDamme Film".

I am asking, because I read somewhere that it in fact had 5.1 audio, but back cover states 2.0

I am actually surprised by the amount of his films on BD. Nearly everything but 6-7 of which I really want 4 of right now!

It only has an uncompressed LPCM stereo track.

I'd like to see "Lionheart," and that's pretty much it..."Breakin'" did get a German Blu-ray release :

Not that I'm aware of...to the best of my understanding, the original US cut has only been released on VHS...

EDIT: I now see that there are 3 different cuts?
There's 79 mins, 85 mins and 99 mins. The back of mine says 85 mins and the back of the Australian release says 94 mins.

Someone with knowledge, please help!
On home video, there's basically been two cuts...the US Cut and then the International Cut...some of those runtimes on certain releases (like the Amazon MOD disc) are incorrect. The PAL versions are going to be shorter do the the 4% PAL speedup issue...here's some more info for you:

Correct

Curious to know what the 79 min version is....
I am so thankful that the scene in which Jason meets Kelly (and they go touring around Seattle) was cut from the International Version. It's awful, plain and simple.

The German Blu is better than the Lionsgate release, but it is Region-B locked, so make sure you have a Region-free player. The best looking release of "Kickboxer" is still the Region-1 1999 HBO widescreen DVD...

I decided to pick it up and give the blu-ray a try, after all its less that $10. I have the 1999 HBO widescreen DVD and I will do a comparison and let you guys know what I think. But it sounds absolutely bizarre that a DVD could ever be superior to a Blu-ray. But this may be the one title where I realize this is possible.

I looked at the screen grabs and the Blu-ray does appear to be just a simple up-convert of the DVD, which could create its own set of problems. Which could also explain its inferiority to the DVD. As per the different Blu-ray releases, in my honest opinion, the only difference appears to be brightness. I don't notice any improved picture quality or detail. They look practically identical to me.

I hope they remaster it one day, but I seriously doubt it.

The Lionsgate Blu-ray has noticeable DNR and brightness issues...it's awful...

The German BD does look to be an upconvert of the German DVD (which is of good quality), yet it still handily outclasses the Lionsgate Blu...

The R1 1999 HBO DVD, despite its lower res, is the best of the bunch...

As for your comment about finding it "bizarre that a DVD could ever be superior to a Blu-ray"....please...you have been a member on here long enough to know that there have been numerous instances of catastrophic disasters on Blu-ray...

Ha same here, I own *every* Van Damme film ever released on DVD (the only thing I'm missing is the Behind Closed Doors DVD) but knowing superior blu-rays are out there, often uncut, is making me buy them all again. Same situation with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Seagal, Chan and Norris, whose complete filmographies I collected on DVD! Though rewatching some Norris flicks recently they are terrible so I may hold off on upgrading all of them. Hope he doesn't turn up and kick me in the face

Anyway thanks to madridista8700 for the list, I'm still puzzled by Assassination Games not getting a blu-ray release, very annoying

Actually, the more I think of Chuck Norris, the more I think the Blu-ray format should've been created solely for his films, his "Texas Ranger" TV show and his Total Gym infomercials (and called something like "Chuck-ray" instead of Blu-ray)...I'm sure if that had been the case, everyone in the world would own a player as well as every single one of his films, TV shows, and infomercials ...because if they didn't, like you said, Chuck would pay them a personal visit with a complimentary roundhouse kick to the head...

I own the dutch bluray of Kickboxer ... I'm not a nitpicker, but I thought it looked way better than the dvd ever did. I'm not expecting Avatar/Disney quality bluray's.. so expectations were met.

Just received my Wake of Death (Black edition) and the German Bloodsport (already have the US disc).

Now, if he would only finish/release Eagle Path/Soldier :-)

I have been waiting for that film for ages!

Got my German Bloodsport four days ago. Compared it to my US disc, I think it's better and worse at the same time. Detail and color is better, but the aliasing ruins it. Overall it still beats the US disc
