you don't have to participate in the discussion; nobody is forcing you.. Bronson stated again that he wants in so when news breaks out it usually gets posted in the correct thread on that topic. The studio has said they will continue the franchise after this one. All 3 movies have been a financial success, a forth is going to happen

This is Avi Lerner we're talking about here. He'll keep on churning out Expendables sequels until The Expendables 8 goes straight-to-DVD with Michael Dudikoff, Olivier Gruner, David Bradley, Brian Bosworth, C. Thomas Howell, Judd Nelson and Erika Eleniak.

If Sly and Arnie don't appear in this 4th film (which I don't expect them to) my interest will drop significantly. I may give it a rent if the cast is worth a watch though.

Expendables 3 will bomb so hard due to the PG-13 rating that there won't even be a Expendables 4.

Glad someone said it before I did. Sly betrayed what few fans he had left ("We want as many people to see it as possible" = we want more money). We defended him during the lulz in his career (between "Copland" and "Rocky 6"). Everyone laughed at hime and wrote him off in Hollywood, but we spoke up for him. We said "He's still got it. You'll see. He's gonna come back, and it's gonna be awesome. And all you nay-sayers will eat your words". We were right, Sly did come back with Rocky 6 and Rambo 4. And what did we get in return? A so called "Return to 80's action movies" series that's really nothing than modern action movies (shaky-cam, teal color timing, orchestrated score music, CGI everything, lazy writing, etc...) that happen to star classic action actors. The fans were the real expendables this time.

And now we have what is essentially a cheap, lazy rip-off of the Fast and The Furious, the very thing these films were supposed to be throwing under the bus and showing today's audiences what REAL action movies are. Not stunts with CGI, but MEN throwing punches and firing guns (with real blanks and fake blood squibs, NOT CGI muzzle flares with CGI blood effects).

Everything about that trailer screamed lazy. CGI cars, choppers, trains, and planes. CGI smoke and CGI explosions. CGI muzzle flares, CGI backdrops, and of course, CGI blood. These movies cost 100 million to make, and yet they look like the same DTV dreck that Van Damme, Seagal, et al, release every year on like 1/10th of the budget (Hey Sly, where's all that money actually go?). Seriously, I've seen better CGI effects across the board, in youtube videos from people who make "action" videos for fun, in their homes on their personal computers, with no money except whatever they paid for the hardware and software.

As if the trailer itself didn't give away enough to show that hardly anyone is gonna actually die this time around, it very clearly shows that the new cast is front and center this time around, which of course is cuz they want this series to become a vehicle for "the new blood". A group of "actors" that no one cares about, or simply doesn't care to see as actors (that chick who's a fighter who's now trying to be an action star is pretty popular, but I seriously doubt her name on the bill is gonna get 'em coming in droves).

And for anyone saying "It looks good", "Don't judge it till you see it", "It's getting a lot of buzz", "People are really excited", and of course "I'm XX years old and I like these guys. Not everyone under the age of XX has written these guys off just cuz they're too young to have grown up and seen these guys when they were in their prime", save your breath. "Snakes on A Plane" had a HUGE internet buzz, before bombing in theaters. The proof is in the pudding. Come this August the numbers will speak for themselves. So I ain't having that argument.

As for numbers, the first film made 100 mil here in the US (Sly's first 9 figure BO gross since Rocky 4 back in 1985), and around 175 mil worldwide for a total of about 275 mil. The 2nd film made about 85 mil here in the US, and made about 225 worldwide for a total of about 310 mil.

This one? Based on all the bombs Arnie and Sly have had in the past 2 years, I'm gonna say 40-50 mil in the US, and about 100-115 mil worldwide, for a total of about 150 mil, which is only half of what the first 2 made.

There ain't gonna be a 4th. And if there is, it'll be even cheaper than the first 3, no one from the old cast will return (new younger actors don't command a heavy paycheck, further lining Avi's greedy pockets wider), and Sly will have MAYBE 10 minutes of overall screen-time that he'll shoot in a day. The film will be an even further cheap looking, unimaginative POS that gets laughed outta theaters. In which case, a 5th one will be either DTV, or not get made at all.

Enjoy your retirement Sly. You've earned. Greedy and lazy. A sure formula for career failure. Maybe you can get by from now on by charging fans over 800 dollars for a picture and autograph at conventions. Oh wait....

Ah who am I kidding. I still lvoe the guy. He still is my favorite actor and Rocky 4 is still my favorite movie ever. I can only hope that the failure of this film gives Sly that fire in his belly AGAIN like he had when he made Rocky 6 and Sly finally makes the project that finally gets him the recognition he deserves. Sly's "Unforgiven", so to speak. He finances it himself (since Hollywood won't touch him), it gets nominated for numerous awards, Sly wins some awards, gets his respect from the academy, and rides off into the sunset.

LOL! another one?! this is getting worse than seeing the old man crew in the original Star Trek flicks.

Doesn't matter how tough you make the film look with all the gun fights and fisticuffs...its a PG-13, game over man.

November Man is on the verge of being castrated and slapped with a PG-13.

Same here, the last two didn't even deserve the R ratings. If that is the type of movie they want to make, so be it. As long as they continue to be entertaining I'll be there.

Pierce Bronson? sounds nice.

How about Jean Reno next with Treat Williams and Japanese cult action hero Sho Kusagi?

Hopefully they can put him in the fourth one. I don't think Jackie chan hasn't been in a movie since 2010 when he did that "the spy next door" movie that year.

Chan wanted to do something more like a "buddy" movie with only Sly. I'd pay to see that. The 2 of them are retired officers in their respective fields in their own countries. International terrorist flees the country and is currently hiding in the other (doesn't matter if it's a Chinese terrorist hiding in the US or vice-versa), Sly and Chan are both pulled outta retirement and forced to work together.

Call it a "semi - Rush Hour" type of deal, but with less comedy. And rated R.

This is apparently from a Bulgarian site called, Blitz.bg.

Quote:
“I always wanted to make a picture with Michael Douglas. We meet periodically at guest events with various friends, he is a great man.” Stallone also teased a potential Al Pacino role: “I invited them both to join The Expendables 4″.
Not sure how much truth is behind this but I am not surprised Sly wants to continue the series.

That sounds like a cool movie. I'd definitely pay to see that.
