It's priced at 47,480 yen ($403) plus tax, and, as mentioned above, includes the game itself. Which helps you appreciate how similar the box art and the HDD cover art are, I suppose. At least it's laser-etched and not printed.

Not at all to be honest. The game play styles look similar but play incredibly different.

Oh look! Something cool! I bet it's only for the Japanese. Yup. Japan only. Damn Sony...

SONY has a potential goldmine at hand if they'd just release custom HDD covers sold independently of systems, like the new 3DS. Sure people collect the "limited" systems but I'm sure a lot more sales of these bundles are from people who don't have the system and were also waiting on the game packed in, not for the extra decal/screen print stuck on an otherwise stock system. Charge $20-30 for one. They'd sell.

Continuing with their "IGN First" series, their report on the first 2 hours (not a video, just article with impressions.

http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/02/03...d-it-ign-first

extracts:

Quote:
Unlike the Firelink Shrine and Majula, Bloodborne’s hub seemingly exists separate from the rest of the game’s world. This is where you’ll be coming back to whenever you want to level-up, repair your weapons, or just take a breather for the intense beasts that aim to rip you apart.
Quote:
Like the Souls games, any unspent currency you have on your when you die is dropped in the area of your demise. Also like its three predecessors, dying before you can retrieve your loot means that it’s lost forever. However, instead of being placed on the ground at the scene of your murder, your Blood is actually transfused into a nearby enemy; you’ll know which one by the striking glow emanating from their eyes. In order to get back what was once yours, you need hunt and slay the glowy-eyed menace, but it’s the act of hunting and slaying where Bloodborne feels like a much different beast than the games before it.
Quote:
The amount of verbs that exist in Bloodborne’s combat, even in the earliest hours of the game, were mighty impressive. Juggling weapon transformations, a limited amount of ammunition, and your stamina meter make for a challenging but rewarding battle economy. Couple this with the game’s new Regain system – a risk/reward mechanic where you can take back a bit of your health if you strike back in the dangerous period immediately after being damaged – and each skirmish in Bloodborne is rife with strategy.
Quote:
I loved the winding European nature of the city. Every time I ventured out in a new direction and got impossibly lost, I ended up stumbling upon a shortcut that led back to a familiar area. The way the world folded back into itself gave off a very “Metroidvania” vibe. The city is gorgeous, and displayed a level of density that urged me to continue exploring each dark corner I came across.
Quote:
I was certainly not ready for the sewers beneath Yharnem. Giant trolls patrolled narrow catwalks, gaggles of menacing rats flooded out of holes in the wall, and what I thought were dead bodies in shallow water turned out to be terrifying mud-creatures that quickly outnumbered me. Even when I managed to run past all of these things, I found myself the victim of a giant armored boar that trampled me before I could get out of the well. And if all of that sounds like a lot to handle, wait until you get to the bosses.
Quote:
The massive Cleric Beast, which has been prominently featured in many of the demos we’ve all seen, appears about 20 minutes into your journey. Through a mix of Souls’ muscle memory, careful pattern memorization, and a handful of useful Molotov cocktails, I was able to fell the beast after a tense encounter. To my surprise and complete joy, its demise was met with a dimming of the screen, and the words “YOU HUNTED” being displayed proudly across my field of view. So many of my fondest memories of the Souls games stem from the elation of defeating a seemingly-impossible adversary, and I’m so glad to see that Bloodborne carries that torch proudly.

Not liking the sound of repairing your weapons. Never played any of the souls games so maybe it's a series staple but I hate when games make you repair weapons after use.

I’ve played only very little of the original Demons Soul, but have all three games (both Dark Souls, as well). However, I do mean to get to all three of them. I know I will miss the online features of the games, but I’m ok wih that.

But for Bloodborne, I am ok with repairing weapons, what I don’t like is how you can “lose your loot forever” if you die again. I don’t know if that was a staple of Demons Soul or the Dark Souls games, but if this is the case, I hope there is never any super rare or hard to find uber loot like in Diablo III. Because if there was, that would just piss me off and make the game unfun for me, as I just lost this super hard to get (but awesome) item because I couldn’t retrieve it before I died again.

I am hoping what the writer is referring to as loot is experience. In all the other Souls games your Weapons and Armour stay with you after you die. It is your experience that you have not spent yet that you lose. Which is not really as bad as it sounds. As for repairing Items in the Souls games in general it is not to bad. Most every thing can take a lot before it is useless but you have to watch out for those enemy that do corrosive damage to weapons and Armour.

Oh, ok. If it is experience you “lose forever”, I am ok with that. But hard to find/get items I would have an issue with.

Theres no way it would be weapons armor. They know that would turn people off. Items may be possible but im almost positive its only the souls exp that you lose. I love that it goes into an enemy that you habe to kill rather than just a blood stain on a floor. Makes it much more challenging. I am very excited for this game. I even preordered the strat guide off amazon.
