Looks like they correct the mistakes of the previous authoring.

I see people mistakenly stating the 2nd edition from TCM had crushed blacks. This is incorrect. If you turn up the brightness on your display set up about 25-30% that detail comes back. Not the same as crushed black. But who wants to do that for 1 disc?

Yeah, best of both worlds. Though I guess you could get similar results to the MC disc by increasing brightness on the revised TCM disc

Yeah, would have been nice to have the extras so I could sell the TCM disc. Oh well. I wonder if we will see a Mill Creek Only Angels Have Wings disc too.

I am in the same boat. At least the mill creek release is pretty darn cheap. The picture of the woman holding the dog is such a huge difference.

Amazon raised the price, grrr. (Yeah, I know - I should've locked in my preorder.) BestBuy.com still has it for $8.99 though.

It's listed as an 8-digit SKU on BestBuy.com. That means online-only, right?

Any chance of this being available in other brick and mortar stores anywhere?

EDIT: Did Amazon remove the ability to request a price-match? I can't find it anymore. I was going to try to report BBY's price (Amazon's old price), LOL.

I went to a BB not long ago and it's depressing. The place is going the circuit city route - it was pretty gutted in Burbank CA.

Getting a little punch drunk here. I thought the original release was fine. So many of the complainers were those who never bothered to buy/watch it, but simply reacted to disc specs and an early negative pre-release review on DVD Beaver. From the screen grabs on DVD Beaver it still seems the best choice, with the TCM "redo" a bit too dark for my taste, and the Mill Creek release a wee bit bright. Well, fans certainly have a selection to choose from.

Looks like Mill Creek may be stepping up to the plate with better graphics, etc for their releases. Not a big deal I know, but its nice to see.

The first TCM release has compression artifacts, and inferior grain structure. The Mill Creek is the best overall transfer. It has the same qualities as the second TCM release, but without the overly darkened picture. In either release, brightness settings can be increased/decreased to attain a look suitable to your eyes. I'd say somewhere between the TCM re-release and the Mill Creek release would be the sweet spot in terms of brightness
