Default Target vs. Best Buy Exclusives Details

Just in case anyone is interested:

The Target Exclusive is a tin box. It has an embossed 3D like cover and the back of the tin is plain glossy black. Inside is just the standard Elite Blu-Ray case.

The Best Buy Exclusive disc is an 11 min. (449 MB) DVD. It is a featurette titled "Gotham by Noir Light". It is a look at how the Film Noir genre was incorporated or inspired the look of the show. There are interviews with select cast members and production/behind-the-scenes crew.

Hope this helps answer some questions. Personally, I really like the Target tin, for what it's worth.

While I enjoy all of those shows, I'd be curious to see where they all are 70 years from now, like Batman is here now.

Actually, it's about Gordon and Batman as a boy - which apparently will be even clearer in Season 2.

My only real complaint about Gotham was that the 720p broadcast had a smoothed over look but what I have seen of the images of the BD looks great and it has film grain (fake?) that I did not see when the show was aired.

Quote:
The jury's still out on Gotham. After its rocky, at-times frustrating first season, the series' showrunners have promised big changes are in store for Season Two, many of which are a direct response to fan criticism
More like Not Fans of Gotham. Unlike what the referred too 'fans' believed an adult Batman was stated, well before it aired, would not appear but the haters kept asking when he was showing up and take over the show. Then they would rant about how Marble was so much better then DC and did not complain that Nick Fury was not the star of Agents of Marble or that Captain America would never be in Agent Carter just to make clear to us what hypocrites they were.

Quote:
I'll be watching the series when it returns to FOX later this month, but I also won't be surprised in the least if it's more of the same, immediately or eventually. Here's to hoping beyond hope that such cynicism will prove to be unnecessary.
Anybody unhappy with Donal Logue who is Bullock incarnate as can be is not going to be reconciled. Any show that is getting such good ratings and a 90% rotten tomatoes score is not going to, as suggested, replace the producers, get rid of all the writers and recast all the characters because that would kill the ratings fast and get the show cancelled as fast.

No, it's about Gordon and Penguin with young Bruce Wayne as a bit player along with a host of other bit players (not in a bad way either) in season one.

I wasn't trying to list every subplot (there are many - Catwoman, Riddler, Alfred, Lucius Fox, etc. etc. etc). But the main thread is clearly Gordon and a young Bruce Wayne finding himself. Robin Lord Taylor caught on with the audience and so his role has been expanded, but it's only act one of the series. And, yes, Donal Logue is brilliant.

-sigh- I just can't handle the weak scripting. I think writing should always remain supreme. like, I think Gotham is 'cute' for its approach, but from what I saw in the first 3 episodes, they're really lacking in their execution.

While I'm not disagreeing with you, as I've stated I like those shows you listed...the conversation is moving into the opinion side of things. Unfortunately movie studios don't deal much in opinions, mostly facts. They want to release what will have the best chance of selling. In this case, Gotham, would probably appeal to a larger variety of customers, due to its Batman roots.

target had 4 tins and one regular in the tv show section.

The tin has a lousy cardboard interior that holds the case.
Without that it would bang along the inside.

Wait, you're obviously welcome to your opinion, but to pan a whole series worth of writing based on 3 of 22 episodes ... that's absurd (especially if it was the opening 3 as TV series usually take a bit of time to find their grove.

Chances are that this will be a Black Friday item, so I'll wait until then to nab it. It's not the greatest show, but it's entertaining and brings some much needed fun back to the Batman mythos. The campy villains are a hoot, especially that absurd Fish storyline. It also doesn't hurt that Ben McKenzie has aged super fiiiiiine.

Question for the Blu-rays:
Does the disc have Japanese menu screens to access Japanese language tracks?
On the player's setup menu, set disc menu language screen to "Japanese", and if it displays in Japanese, or if it stays in English)

Some recent Warner TV Blus have Japanese audio and subs on the disc themselves, but they author it so it is inaccessible unless you rip the discs.
