Just in case anyone is interested:
The Target Exclusive is a tin box. It has an embossed 3D like cover and the back of the tin is plain glossy black. Inside is just the standard Elite Blu-Ray case. The Best Buy Exclusive disc is an 11 min. (449 MB) DVD. It is a featurette titled "Gotham by Noir Light". It is a look at how the Film Noir genre was incorporated or inspired the look of the show. There are interviews with select cast members and production/behind-the-scenes crew. Hope this helps answer some questions. Personally, I really like the Target tin, for what it's worth. Images are attached. |

My only real complaint about Gotham was that the 720p broadcast had a smoothed over look but what I have seen of the images of the BD looks great and it has film grain (fake?) that I did not see when the show was aired.

No, it's about Gordon and Penguin with young Bruce Wayne as a bit player along with a host of other bit players (not in a bad way either) in season one. |

-sigh- I just can't handle the weak scripting. I think writing should always remain supreme. like, I think Gotham is 'cute' for its approach, but from what I saw in the first 3 episodes, they're really lacking in their execution.

While I'm not disagreeing with you, as I've stated I like those shows you listed...the conversation is moving into the opinion side of things. Unfortunately movie studios don't deal much in opinions, mostly facts. They want to release what will have the best chance of selling. In this case, Gotham, would probably appeal to a larger variety of customers, due to its Batman roots.

The tin has a lousy cardboard interior that holds the case. Without that it would bang along the inside. |

Chances are that this will be a Black Friday item, so I'll wait until then to nab it. It's not the greatest show, but it's entertaining and brings some much needed fun back to the Batman mythos. The campy villains are a hoot, especially that absurd Fish storyline. It also doesn't hurt that Ben McKenzie has aged super fiiiiiine.

Question for the Blu-rays:
Does the disc have Japanese menu screens to access Japanese language tracks? On the player's setup menu, set disc menu language screen to "Japanese", and if it displays in Japanese, or if it stays in English) Some recent Warner TV Blus have Japanese audio and subs on the disc themselves, but they author it so it is inaccessible unless you rip the discs. |
