Plenty more Cronenberg 4K discs and masters popping up around the world and on digital as well so I'm sure we'll see more discs here in the future. If only The Fly wasn't a Fox title.

Glad to have a reason to hang on to the Criterion blu as it features a different Cronenberg commentary track which is shared with Weller, a very interesting character in his own right.

Just bought this but notice there’s also a Criterion 4K with Cronenberg commentary. Doh!

Anyone know which has the better picture and sound..?

The same master was used, but the Arrow version has a superior, Fidelity In Motion, encode. So you bought well

I'm not up on the sound am afraid.

These days if there's a choice of releases then Criterion rarely have the better picture.

Arrow is better for the movie, I don't care much about special features

Fortunately I found the audio commentary online.

Cronenberg commentaries are typically excellent. He’s probably the best director for yakking about his work, I could listen to his thoughtful, articulate, soothing voice all day.

Funny how it contrasts with the grotesque gory mutations going on screen at the same time

Worst commentator might go to Rob Reiner. Great filmmaker but he refuses to reveal ‘the tricks of the trade’ - err, that’s what I’m here for?

Agreed on Cronenberg. Reiner is a pretty obnoxious person anyway. I'm happy South Park went to work on him

Two I'd recommend; Joe Wright on Pride & Prejudice and Jack Nicholson on The Passenger.

Indeed, he is. Even if he is a Mr Grumpy.
