I forgot to mention that the meeting will start on August 2017, so they haven't started yet.

Also gotta love Bryan Fuller. He is so sly. Because even though he doesn't have the rights to The Silence of the Lambs, he still took a lot of stuff from the novel and added it into the show, lol!

I bought the complete series for $21.99. I've never seen the show, but I have seen all of the movies (except for the prequel). Hopefully I like it.

The main appeal of Hannibal - for me - is the actors and I much prefer the made up material to what they adapt from the books. I hope they completely abandon them.

Yeah, sort of.

From what I recall, the original plan was for seven seasons. A three season, original prequel, one season covering Red Dragon, one season covering Silence of the Lambs, one season covering Hannibal, and a final season with an original ending.

This became problematic when they could not secure the rights for Silence of the Lambs, and the poor ratings made a long game unlikely so they hodge-podged a third and final season together with the available source material.

Any continuation would, I suspect, be original material and not adapted from SotL. Though I could see them using Miriam Lass in a simlar capacity to Clarice Starling going forward.

Why has The Silence of the Lambs property being crapped on lately? First The Clarice TV series is no longer in development, no Clarice Starling in the Hannibal TV series, and no 4K remastering of the film for it's 25th anniversary or this year's Halloween. WTF are you doing, MGM?

The first episode is the most network-ish vibe out of all the episodes in the series. So I don't think it's fair to judge the rest of the series based on the first episode.

I really enjoyed the series and after it got past the sex stuff the final season really starting moving along to a great finish. It could have gone on longer, but if it doesn't, I still feel it had a proper ending.

The series as a whole was well worth the time. For a Hannibal series fan it is a no brainer.

Hannibal kind of tricks you, it starts off like a typical procedural, but the last few eps of season 1 start going in a different direction. Then seasons 2 and 3 are unlike any other show on network television.

Hannibal: Season Two kinda disturbed me. It makes The Silence of the Lambs or any of the other Hannibal Lecter films look like a children's movies by comparison. Hannibal: Season Three was so unrealistic to the point where the show came off as a dark fantasy. All I have to say is... pig birth scene. I'll just leave it at that.

Stick with it. I hate network tv and season 1 is good, season 2 is amazing, and season 3 is watchable mess.

I still have yet to pick up the digital copy of Season 3. Hell, I haven't even finished season 1 or season 2.

Hannibal was a great series, though it would have been nice to have seen a SOTL adaptation. However, I'm not faulting the show's writers/producers for this, given that they couldn't get the rights to the novel.

As it stood, the three seasons of Hannibal were fantastic & grotesque; maybe if the series had continued into a fourth season (and if the third season had ended differently), SOTL may have been adapted into the series.

Anyone else order the complete series while it was $21.99? I've always put the series at the bottom of buy list when deciding what to get and thinking "I'll get them next time". But I couldn't pass up all of them in one set for that price. It's now back up to $34.48, not a bad price either. But when you only have $29 on your card the $21.99 price is better... lol Being a prime member, at least for another month, and having $2.88 on a Amazon gift card, my total was $20.59.

Yes it does (I don't know if they're called that but yes alternate versions with the more gory stuff that was removed for TV)
