Here's another one for you. A remake of The Shining.

This would definitely not work for a possible remake as the terrible Network mini series version proved.

Sad thing is, a redone Shining that sticks closer to the book probably could work. The miniseries version suffers solely because it's so cheap and corny.

If it leads to a Dr. Sleep adaptation, I'd even support it.

It's actually the CinemaSins "sentence" for the movie: Citizen Kane remade by Disney

You forgot about that because it's awesome!

OK, not awesome. But fun and worth seeing.

Obviously Jake LaMotta is a real person and it's not a crazy thing for there to be two movies about a real life figure, but another one out there when Raging Bull exists just seems unnecessary to me.

Definitely.

Unless you're going to address a whole different time period in his life, or completely different aspects -- what's the point?

I've seen that film, and it has very little story cross over with Raging Bull. It basically is focused on events either before or after the time period covered in Raging Bull.

Now the film is very bland, and they were originally trying to title it Raging Bull 2 and sell it as a sequel, but after a lawsuit they had to change the title and make it clear that it's an unrelated biopic about LaMotta. If it was an official sequel to Raging Bull of this quality I could see the sacrilege, but as it is, I view it was more silly and forgettable than anything else.

Gotcha.

Raging Bull is a masterpiece, and I say that with no trepidation even after the long discussion concerning that word in the Criterion thread.
