RIP my hopes of getting Spirited Away for a reasonable price.

On the plus side, hopefully Kiki has the older version of the 03 dub and fixes that horrible audio hiss that nobody ever talks about

$20 is a pretty reasonable price for such a great film.

Depends on what you would call reasonable, if you mean below $10 then no, not unless you join DMC and get them as enrollment titles while it's still in print from Disney. Once the GKIDS versions come out I'd expect them to go a little lower, maybe not lower than $15 (which would be lucky as it is) but they shouldn't be $30.

Well considering nearly all of the others are going for like $12 bucks or less and that's the only one that isn't dropping..

Is Shout Factory distributing these instead of Universal?

$12 is insanely good, but $20 is still reasonable.

Yeah, because I can see their product code on the spine. I left a comment on Facebook to confirm this.

If it's true, strange Shout! is handling this and not Universal? I do hope though that this lead to something big in the future if Studio Ghibli/GKids will allow (like collector's edition containing various versions, dubs, and extras).

If these go down to $13.80 like the 2nd Digimon tri movie did then I don't mind if Shout has them

It is kind of weird though to go from Shout to Universal back to Shout though.

Studio Ghibli have super tight control over how their films are presented and what video and audio content is included in them. If they don't care about the older dubs or butchered edits of their films, then they will NEVER be included in future editions. Of course they might change their minds, but get used to the fact that you will likely never hear those dubs or see Warriors of the Wind officially again.

Not when you already own the DVD. $15, like the others, would be my buy point. Nevermind a number of stores try to sell it for $27.99 standard

I'm actually really excited for these releases. I own all of the releases to date, only missing 1 slip cover (The Wind Rises) but I really disliked the Disney color scheme that was used, while I really liked the GKIDS versions.

So I'll be trying to sell all of my Disney versions to free up some cash for these new ones.

Only Warriors of the Wind was a butchered edit; all the other movies Disney dubbed were not. Added in music and lines do not count as "butchered edits". Interestingly, too, the rescore of Castle in the Sky is on the Japanese and international BDs. It'll be interesting to see if that reworking makes the GKids release this time. (There was actually word that a screening of CASTLE showed the rescore minus the extra dialogue -- just as on the BD, so... it'll be interesting to see.)

If you plan on selling your sets, I would be interested in buying the slipcovers. I actually like the gold and blue scheme. I'm also missing like 3-4 of the movies, I might be interested in buying them too.

It'd be nice if the commentary track (which is in the Japanese and UK blurays ) got ported over to this new U.S. edition
