I've already got the Scream Factory BR of 3 and the 30th anniversary edition of 2 with Terror in the Aisles, the latter of which is the ONLY reason I bought it.

Or are the extra thunderclaps = the original mono??

Enlighten me
The extra thunderclaps were added for the remix (which I think first appeared on the '99 Anchor Bay DVD). There's a big one right after Loomis's line "The driveway is a few hundred yards up to the right," and another as he's saying "Never, never... never."

Yes the 35th (which was a steelbook in the UK) has folded down Mono.

How can you tell? Because it sounds like it.

Definitely getting both. I Haven't ordered directly from Shout since TCM 2 was released but might have to for those lithographs.

Can anyone else confirm that the Halloween III mediabook blu-ray has additional footage not included on the Scream and Universal releases? I heard it was originally cut in the U.S. but this is the first I’ve read of an uncut release on blu-ray.

Have we heard anything definitive yet about the source of the 4k remasters? They confirmed the Creepshow 4k remaster coming this fall is from the original negatives. so is it possible Halloween II and II is also form the original negatives?

Creepshow is a Warner title and their policy (unless Christopher Nolan is involved) is to only do 4K scans from the OCN and 2K scans from an IP, so that might have something to do with it.

I'm thinking that Halloween II, III, Lifeforce, etc. may be 4K IP scans, but I hope I'm wrong.

The German blu-ray gave the TV version of Halloween II it's own blu-ray alongside Terror in the Aisles, so the TV version is given a much stronger bitrate and looks much better. The extras are also in the correct aspect ratio.

It would be nice if Shout bothered to fix these issues for this new release.

It would also be nice if Shout laid off the DNR this time. The DNR in their previous Halloween II release removed details throughout the film, which can be seen in some of the comparison caps on caps-a-holic (like random bits of flame being removed).
Shout also gave the TV version its own disc. Not sure if the German TV version has a better bit rate better but would love to be proven wrong. I know the German regular version (NSM) is a hair better. I have the single disc version.
You are right about the extra scenes on the main disk though. One other interesting thing though is the US version doesn't have the stinger sound when Jimmy pops up but the German version does. At least on the extras.

It's true that Shout gave the TV version it's own disc, but it's just a DVD. The German disc was a blu-ray, and it was upscaled to 1080p, so the bitrate and file size should be higher. So the German blu-ray disc shared Terror in the Aisles and the TV version. I wonder if it's also possible the German TV version is a bit different than the version on the Shout disc? I know there are a couple slightly different versions of the TV version floating around. I've seen a broadcast master with a few additional short insert shots that aren't in the Shout version

Good catch about the stinger when Jimmy pops up. I knew something was off there when I checked it the other day but couldn't figure out what.

Here'e the alternate ending as it aired at some point on Chiller:

In that version the stinger is missing.

I guess then the question would be, would a new 4k scan from the IP be an improvement over an almost 20 year old 2k scan? Was the old 2k scans of Halloween II and III from the original negatives?

When they run out, yes. I imagine it won't be any different than their other steelbook releases, although I thought there was a limited amount of these being made.

I wish fans welcomed the idea of a different Halloween themed film going forward starting with 3 without Michael Myers as originally planned. Now we will never know what the alternate Halloween 4, 5, 6... would have been.
