'Actual well known popular films'

Hmm doesn't sound like anything I'd want in my collection!

Also, great interview with Englund!
I can vouch, the picture quality is pretty damn good. This is a solid transfer.

Anyway, the movie is pretty much like I remembered it. It's not a great movie, and it starts off slow. But, once the plot gets going it picks up and become more interesting. I wouldn't pay full price on a blind-buy, but for someone like me who buys every Stephen King movie, I can say I'm happy with the purchase. I'll watch the extras tonight.

IS the transfer 4K or 2K? I just got the set from Amoeba Music and the case says 2K. But still, to own "The Mangler" on Blu and with the great VHS artwork is more than ever expected.

It was announced as 4K and the back of the blu-ray says 2K so no one knows for sure. It's a beautiful scan regardless.

I have the German Mediabook Blu-Ray of The Mangler...how does the Scream Factory one compare to that one?

Just watched this frickin gem of a release and was blown away.

Unrated in HD

Scream Factory has pretty much fully redeemed themselves with this one

Got it a couple weeks back and watched it the same night it was delivered.

Hadn't seen it since premium cable in the mid-late 90s. Still love the laundry set design as much as I remembered.

While I wouldn't suddenly say it's a brilliant movie, having watched (and re-watched) a TON of Tobe Hooper this past year, a lot of the things people consider, and that I once remembered as, "awful" about the movie feel like they're intentional. And Tobe having tons of fun with the insanity of the premise, gleefully using his signature "red" humor throughout.

I'm not saying that's the reasoning behind EVERY choice in the movie. It's still not perfect/amazing. But, under that lens (even if it is just me), I definitely appreciated it more now than I did way back when.

I kind of had the same experience; after becoming more an all-purpose Hooper fan, this movie makes more sense to me than ever before. Looks great on Blu-ray, too.

Jesus, NSM had two cracks at this and still couldn’t match Scream Factory’s level of quality????

I watched this recently for the first time in decades, and liked it a lot more this time. I didn't really understand parody as a kid, nor had I watched enough horror movies to get it even if I did, but this one worked perfectly as a parody of the horror genre at the time.

Dunno if that was intentional, but it probably doesn't even matter.

Bought this from the Amazon Scream sale, and honestly thought it was better than I imagined it would be. I was entertained and never bored, and some funny lines. Not the greatest film, but doesn't deserve the hate.

Does anyone have the most recent NSM Records disc and can confirm if it has an interview with Tobe Hooper among the extras? This is listed on the OFDB page for the disc:

- Tobe's Terrors: Rückblickendes Interview Tobe Hoopers
zu seinen größten Gore-Filmen (33:08 Min.)
(Google translate: - Tobe's Terrors: Retrospective Interview Tobe Hoopers
to his greatest Gore films)

In case you didn’t know: https://www.arrowfilms.com/blu-ray/t.../13441459.html

This movie is trash. I am, therefore, buying it anyway.

I’ve never seen this but I found the Arrow limited edition with booklet for $25 on eBay just now so I thought I’d finally take the plunge. I’m guessing it’s along the lines of the goofy but entertaining Spontaneous Combustion in tone, where you’re never sure whether Tobe is serious or having a go at you. My absolute fave Hooper flick is Lifeforce, followed by a movie with a chain saw.
